I stayed in a nearby hotel and really enjoyed going for jogs around this park every morning. After breakfast I would bring the wife and kids over to stroll along the water looking at the waterfowl and carp. Bring some quarters, there are food dispensers for the animals and is good fun for kids and adults alike!

Beautiful park with tranquility.
During the day time in the summer is too hot to walk along the water. but under the shade feels amazing.
Museum of Art is close by, and they have music concerts.
Kids are having fun feeding the fish and the ducks.

Huntsville is a nice and historic small city. The highlight for me was Big Spring Park. They have a really nice walkway going around what used to be a canal. They made it so nice by adding fountains, benches, and trees. It was definitely a nice way to spend a morning while visiting the area.

Very lovely park right in the heart of downtown Huntsville. We went there twice on our 3 nights visit to Huntsville. Big lake with lots and lots of fish and ducks. Park was clean. There are plenty of little vending machines with fish and duck foods. It cost a quarter. Take a few quarters with you. My 7 and 10 year old had a nice time feeding the fish and ducks. Plenty of benches to sit on. Would recommend for anyone; kids, couples etc.

This was my second time to visit the park. The first two was in November and it was to cold to look around. This time was much better. It was lovely. The trees were blooming and it was fun. There were kids playing and even a couple making prom pictures.

Very nice, clean park across from the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, Alabama. There is a lagoon with ducks and koi, plenty of paved trails for walking, lots of green spaces to sit and admire the view. Don’t miss the red Chinese ornamental bridge that crosses the lagoon. Great for pics!

Our hotel was within walking distance of this park. It's a lovely area to enjoy day or night. There are a lot of ducks and koi fish. Signs are posted along the way to explain the history. It a very peaceful area.

It's an awesome place for a nice walk in the evening. Centered downtown and surrounded by restaurants and coffee shops. The water is filled with coy and ducks with plenty of feeders. So many great events throughout the year like jazz on the lawn or movies with the kids...fits everyone of every style. We love it here and thanks to the local authorities for making it safe.

We had an appointment across the street and decided to check it out with all of the Christmas Trees. It is small, but very nice and well maintained. Unfortunately, no public restrooms to be found.

My girlfriend and I had a picnic here for my birthday and it was awesome. We came on a night that had jazz in the park so that was extra special. It’s always really clean here and a nice vibe. It’s also dog-friendly which I love because my fur baby goes where I go. Awesome views, awesome vibes, awesome space. Check it out!

The walking tail in the park its self is about 3/4 of a mile maybe a mile if you throw in the far reaches near the convention center. the park is not the total attraction. The walk around historic Huntsville is outstanding. Nice shops along manicured walkways. In good weather the town rolls a piano out and people stop by to play. Places it sit in the shade and plenty of very nice cafes - very reasonable dinner specials every night all over town. . Also ,check out the Mercantile! Awesome old timey feel shop with lots of stuff including a try before you buy taffy bar!Q

Do I need to do anything special to have a commitment ceremony here. It will be 3 people and we will say our promises to eachother in front of a witness (3rd person) and then that's all. Wondering if that's okay.

should be no problem, but you will have the public walking around you. as long as you don't need to reserve the gazebo.

I do not believe that big spring park has wifi but the restaurants in the area do have wifi. Huntsville is a very progressive technological city in north Alabama.
The art museum is in big spring park, embassy suites is across the street, VBCC convention center & $5 indoor parking is across the street. (Free off street parking is very limited on north side)
The state court house is located 2 walking blocks from big spring park with more restaurants available.
Hope this helps
