Very nice how they have preserved history of this little hidden gem. If you are in the area it's worth the quick stop to take a peak.

Small, wooden, dark. Probably cold in the winter and definitely hot in the summer. Hard to picture more than two prisoners at a time. Interesting. Across from Chef Troy's Restaurant.

This is cool because of the history and the fact you can walk into it. It's quite small and in a very small town as well. But if you are nearby and like historical sites (or geocaching as there is one there as well) then...More

Seeing the jail was interesting. Part of history. Jail was smaller than I imagined without cell bars like you see on Gunsmoke. Best part was going across the road to chef Troy's to eat afterward.

The Houston Historic Jail is a quick road-side stop but gives you an idea of the area's history. Definitely take five minutes to look around.

Well maintained structure with informative plaques for reading. No gift shop etc but worth seeing if you are in the area. No fee to see

The history of this place was very interesting but the interior reeked of urine so we opted to not go inside. It is a small place with only 2 rooms but worth a quick trip to see it.

Oldest log jail in Alabama. Used during the war of northern aggression. The walls have large iron nails evenly spaced in interior walls so a saw can't be used. The jail has been restored to original condition. There are busts of notable Winston County people....More

Not a lot to see because it's only two rooms but a very informative historical landmark sign out front. Crazy restroom facilities...lol

A nice place to see when you are in the area. A little piece of local history. Inside there is a description of the building.
