One of the best things to do in Darjeeling is to visit the HI museum. It not only gives you the knowledge about the Mt.Everest's expeditions but also makes you feel proud of being an Indian.

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is located in the same complex as the zoo. The Institute showcases very nicely historical aspects of mountaineering in India and about various famous mountaineers. Very nice and educational visit.

The place is quite unique as there are few museums of this sort. The exhibits are the gear which are used for mountaineering. There are prototypes of the mountains also with details of the mountaineers who climbed the Everest and other details of historical importance.

An institute building with hostel .No guides available. Souveniors are Good and Cheap too. It is inside the zoo only although Travel agents mark it as a separate viewpoint.

It is OK for some and nothing for some people depends on their interest on Trekking equipment and other stuff. Attached Zoo is another attraction and it is just Fine.
