This small museum is in a corner of the grounds on the Temple of the Tooth. Dedicated to Raja the tusker elephant who was part of the annual Esala Perahera for over 50 years.

This mini museum is in the grounds of the temple of the tooth and is worth a quick visit to see the huge elephant taxidermy. The elephant used to carry the Buddha’s tooth through the streets of Kandy in Esala Perahera.

Raja The Tusker Elephant was serving for the Annual Kandy Procession long ago and had won the heart of all worshipers because of its disciplined manner and peaceful nature. Its body preserved in Raja Elephant Museum inside the sacred Temple of Tooth Relic.
