It is loud, long and full of people... However this is a unique religious procession which is for Sri Lankan's, not for tourists. Therefore very interesting to observe locals during the long wait and then during the loud and colorful event. Most tourists (like us)...More

Worth visiting if you can stand the loud banging and clanging.elephants dressed up and people dressed up in traditional costume dancing.very important festival for Sri lankans!!!not suitable for babies and young kids as they could get crushed!!!book seats months ahead and don't use toilets!

A Perahera is a must see atleast once in your life time! and the kandy one is beautiful! very looooooong and can get tiring and repititive so be prepared!
