Being the only english couple in a french bus tour, we were given a leaflet and allowed to explore ourselves. The exhibit was really interesting, especially the costumes, but the highlight was the huge relief map! The staff were brilliant, they couldn't have been more helpful.

Not very exciting, I enjoyed more the second part (ground floor) with all the dresses and story about the Kingdom times of Montenegro. The descriptions could have more info. Also impressive is the relief map of Montenegro that you can pay for and see separately from the museum.

Biljarda is the former residence of Petar II Petrović Njegoš. The entrance fee to the museum is €3 and if you want to see the relief map of Montenegro as well, you have to buy a ticket separately. It is for €2.

In the museum you can see not only the famous billiard table after which the building is named and which was given to Njegoš as a gift, but there are more Njegoš’ personal effects, including for example his bishop’s cross. Furniture, clothes, daily necessities, very interesting documents are on the display here.

The 3D Relief map is huge & would have allowed the generals to have a helicopter view of all of Montenegro. When viewed you cannot escape the simple fact that the country is ALL MOUNTAINS ... except for a very small coastal area.
Apparently constructed in WW1 to help with military strategies.
The map is housed under a large glass roof which throws different light & shade on the exhibit & does make it a bit tricky getting an overall impression. It also makes this area quite hot.
I can visualise plenty of "upgrades" that would make this century old exhibit more relevant to the obvious tourist interests of today.
Layering a light show to highlight points of interest would add a new dimension to the 3D.

I understood how proud a local guide was of the history of his country, but for me it was too long and too dry, There were just a few interesting stories, the rest was repetitions, and borring details, many details. Sorry, the museum exhibits did not grob my heart!

You need the guide to figure out what is going on... suggestive architecture and collection, nice staff and interesting history but it is one of those places where you need some key info.

I saw people getting out of a closed door which I thought was the way to go to the Monastery of St. Peter. The couple ahead of me and I were surprised to see the huge Relief Map of Montenegro. Soon a woman arrived and said that we should pay!

Entrance fee to the Relief Map is 2 Euros per person. We apologized for the non-payment because we did not see the signs re Entrance Fees and did not know that we're going to the Relief Map.

There is a separate entrance fee for the other parts of the museum! Again, we did not see any access to the other parts from the Relief Map.

Suggestion: Adequate signage for this attraction regarding Entrance Fees. Just have one Entrance Fees for both sections of this museum.

I mistakenly thought I was going to visit a "billiards" museum but soon discovered that "biljarda" must mean something altogether different in local tongue! In all truth, the museum was a yawn from start to finish (which was soon after the start) but the massive relief map of Montenegro took me completely by surprise. The relief map is genuinely massive, laid out over approx 180 square meters, surrounded by a barrier and housed in separate building with ceiling-high glass windows all around. You can walk all the way around the map. As a keen geographer, this was bliss and allowed me to explore the whole of Montenegro from the air. I spent 5 times as long in here as I did in the rest of the museum.

We did not visit the museum itself with our bike tour guides, just this large scale map (maybe 40 feet by 40 feet) of the country. Situated in a separate building, Made over a hundred years ago it is an excellent visual of the extent of the mountains in this country. You would never get that from a regular map,
