Decent exhibition on history of Montenegro. Art museum was closed for renovation but entry ticket was same price. More recent history section is more interesting. If you only have time for one museum, money museum gives a good story of the country's history through coins and it's free.

Interesting national museum. We were there during the time of the protests and Covid-19, so we were the only 2 persons in the museum. It has a fair size and gives a good overview of their history. Worthwhile a visit. Entrance fee 3 Euro per person.

A 'walk by' on our trip around Cetinje & this & many other palaces & embassies truly stand out as underlining the significance & regard for this Kingdom of King Nikola.
The heritage efforts to preserve Cetinje & its great architecture is beginning to bare fruit. It is full of character unlike anywhere else we visited.
Sorry not enough time to walk through the doors & absorb the exhibits. Looks magnificent though.

モンテネグロの歴史について詳しく学ぶことができる。隣国セルビアとは文化的・歴史的にも異なるものの、第一次世界大戦後にユーゴスラビアの一員となってしまったことへの悔しさが強調されているのが印象的だった。

You can learn well about the history of Montenegro.
Montenegro was taken part in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia ,despite of its uniqueness. It was impressive for me that they consider the event as tragedy.

We made a quick stop in Cetinje. Having walked the beautiful streets of this attractive town we stopped at the National Museum of Montenegro, specifically to just see the topo map of Montenegro. We had little time and so we only saw the topo map that was housed in a separate building. Having done a little traveling in Montenegro we had a wonderful time identifying the places we had been. It is very well done.

This museum records the history of Montenegro chronologically starting with ancient ruins and findings and continuing through the centuries including information during World War I and II and the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Lots of interesting costumes and artifacts.
Worth about an hour or so and cost 3 euros.

The history museum is on the bottom floor and the art museum on the top. I learned a lot more about Montenegrin history that I had ever known before and luckily there is some general English translation for the many objects covering all time periods.
The art museum part was also worth seeing since it contains art by Montenegrin artists which are often not represented in other European museums. It’s true a lot of it is very modern but there are some that overlap with impressionist and expressionist periods.
Overall the museum was quiet and I saw less than 10 other people there during my whole visit.
It was 10 euros to visit all 5 museums in Cetinje and I think that was worth the price

We opted just to visit the History Museum which was more extensive than we had envisaged.
Although not always in chronological order, the exhibits were all most informative, in the main with English translation, and highlighted Montenegro's turbulent history.
An interesting way to spend an afternoon.

If you are interested in history you could spend a day in here! Not too many commentaries in English but a huge collection here. On the next floor is the art museum. Actually very modern. Both on the same ticket as the collective ticket at 10€

I was surprised and impressed with the historical section of the museum. It was a beautiful building and the story laid out was interesting. The modern sections were honest and fair.
