Visited the market briefly. Mostly fruit and vegetables for sale, and live chickens. No other Europeans in sight but didn't feel threatened. Very dirty. Wouldn't go back again

We were advised to watch our pockets, and in the market itself we were ok. But we stopped nearby at the Best Buy supermarket for an ice cream, and a local man picked the pocket of an accompanying friend and stole his cell phone. The...More

Shop with a friend who knows the area and perhaps some of the language. The markets are a daily/weekly experience for most local people. The wide variety of fresh produce is beautifully displayed and an excellent price. You are able to purchase locally made meri...More

Mt. Hagen Market shopping was very unique, delightful, yet nerve wracking. Marketing Ladies and people were very friendly, as most all of PNG is, by the way. I'm happy to have been able to purchase some very nice clothes for family and some memorabilia for...More

The hagen market boosts wide variety of fruits and vegetables which is available at a affordable rate than the Port Moresby. Most of the people tend to purchase it from there while leaving to Port Moresby.
