After reading the review on TripAdvisor, I visited the ancient Majapahit Empire historical sites, including this Candi Bajang Ratu, on 9th June 2018. Majapahit is a name that I am very familiar with as I studied this in my secondary school history. I am amazed...More

The most convenient and cheapest way to get to the site is by Uber. Costs about Rp190,000 from Surabaya city centre. I hung out about 1 hour at the museum, paid the entrance fee of Rp5,000 and then spent about an hour more at Candi...More

It's just a fragment of the original temple complex...but what a fragment it is. All that is left after earthquakes long ago destroyed most of it. The exquisitely carved Kala Heads make a visit worthwhile

A beautiful restored gateway in red brick which stands out with the blue sky. It's shape represents the Himalaya moutains. It has been well restored and the reliefs are very good. Worth a short visit to see past architecture.

This is the main attraction in Trowulan Historical Site. The temple is in good condition and well-preserved. For history lovers, this is a must place to visit

Another remnant of the Majapahit Empire. It is said to be a gate in the Empire back then. It is a wonder, though, how small the entrance is. However, the visit was great, the garden was very pretty, and the exploring was insightful. Love it!

It is the best and complete temple of Majapahit heritage. Made of typical bricks (as all temple in the region). The design is tipical, then became "symbol" of the Tourism Ministry of Indonesia

This is one of the best-preserved of the ruins at Trowulan, a village outside of Mojokerto. Tall, slender and sparsely decorated, it very much belongs to the East Java tradition of temple-building. It is one of the must-see sights on a rickshaw tour of the...More
