There are no tourists here. I don’t have a guide to explain to me about the temple, so I found it quite boring because all temples look the same to me in Bali. The only thing people might be looking at is the thousands-year-old Banyan tree. The entrance ticket is used as a donation.
Entrance ticket = IDR 50,000/person

Too far east of Ubud for many tourists, this is a worthwhile visit and can easily be combined with the nearby Penglipuran Village and Bamboo Forest.

It showcases architectural features not seen in most other Balinese temples, such as the ancient Chinese ceramic plates embedded in the walls and the giant elephants at the base of the stairs. Carvings and statues are intricate and fascinating. A giant banyan tree dominates the courtyard - look out for the monk's hideaway halfway up the tree.

It's getting more popular (the persistent sarong ladies outside need a firm but friendly "no") but still less overrun than the more famous temples in Bali.

Compared to Pura Tirta Empul, Pura Kehen was deserted. That was great! It’s a 13th century Balinese Hindu temple with a gorgeous ancient banyan tree. 50k to enter like most other temples.

Kehen temple is slightly out of the way and not as popular a destination as other temples in Bali, which is a good and a bad thing. It's a large temple and if you have a good guide, as we did, they will take you around the temple and explain much of it's workings to you. It was empty except for us, and we marvelled at the huge Banyan tree in the centre of the temple. It's a very old temple and there was definitely a very spiritual feel to the place, the atmosphere almost a little bit eerie, but it is beautiful so definitely worth seeing. Only one negative, the locals selling their wares are unashamedly pushy and aggressive - they don't get much passing trade so be prepared. Remember to wear a long sarong to be appropriately dressed.

Amazing temple with a beringin tree (or banyan tree but locals call it bringin). It's a quiet temple not a commercial one. When I visit this temple there only 7 or 8 tourist around here.

I loved that this temple is kinda off the beaten track and there aren't as many visitors as other temples in Bali! Definetky worth a visit! The entrance is 30K Rupiah, which is very reasonable! Dress appropriately as it is a spiritual place!

Beautiful temple 13th century. Little bit far from main touristic ways. Traditional architecture with nice views. Interesting stone figures and carving on gates. No security guys looking for every your step. Big banyan tree overhanging the temple. No people inside and it makes this place very misterious.
On enterace you will be asked for small donation for temple up to you. Please not give less than 10k IDR for 1 person. Also you can take sarong here for use or just bring your own. Now only enterace near the central stairs open.
If you like balinese temples - good to visit this one.

The temple itself isn't bad. It's a nice place to walk around. However the experience was ruined by the flock of sellers who descend on you immediately you park outside. They'll tell you that you need to buy a sarong, and/or other Balinese gear to enter. Just more than pushy! Total rubbish too, as sarongs, etc.,come included with the entrance ticket. Nice bell tower in the bunyan tree and great views over the countryside. All in all, an experience not worth repeating.
