This place is impressive with massive walls and a nice mosque inside up the ramp. A good photo op is from the right side looking toward the minaret.

This is a great place to get a good panoramic view of Bukhara. They also have special exhibitions to learn about history of Uzbekistan, its culture, etc. This is a must-see.

In addition to being a military structure, the Ark encompassed what was essentially a town that, during much of the fortress history, was inhabited by the various royal courts that held sway over the region surrounding Bukhara. The Ark was used as a fortress until...More

The wooden part of Ark building was burnt down during the fire of 1920 and has been restored since. but evidence of that a citadel existed here from around 400BC. I found the most interesting part to be throne-room of Bukharan emir located farther back

Once you passed the arch you feel the grandeur of this construction, where in former times a whole village was housed, including stables with 30-40 horses.

I find the Fortress full of character fitting the image of history as I understand the place and if you are pointed to the right direction after visiting its various small but interesting museums, might enjoy a great panoramic view of the ancient city center.

One of the main sites in Bukhara but a little disappointing. Compared with other sites this was fairly uninteresting

Looks great on the outside but not a lot going on inside. We asked for two tickets and were charged for two tickets plus a guide, which we didn’t want or need, and found it was a challenge to negotiate the price back down. We...More

So much history associated with this, including the Uk's forays into the area. When we were there most of the tourists were local and were finding it fascinating
