We have been there 2 times. First time we were surprised by the great play of actors and nice interior (someone may say its soviet, but for me its rather a plus, although the exterior from the street may look a bit boring). Inside there are wooden panels (I have association with theatre in Oslo), carpet examples - all resembles Hutsul culture. You should at least try to make the staff let you come inside (not where the cashiers sit) to have a look (which might be difficult in case you dont speak ukrainian or russian - but why not prepare a google translation that you are theatre-building lover and came from other part of the world to look inside?=))) I feel so sad that their web-page is not provided in English.. As sometimes there occur folk enseble performances, which could be so interesting for foreigners. Hopefully some time in the future... And yes, second time was next day after first visit (you can imagine how we liked it first time))) - but noone warned us that it was a social performance for children with not the best life conditions - and it was something about alcohol and drugs, but not interesting at all... What I thought about , is that if they want to make children love theatres, they should invite them to normal performances, not something specially tailored for people with problems (sadly, specially tailored does not mean professionally tailored), because this only dives them even deeper into that worlds... So we didnt finish watching the performance. To cut it short, try to come inside!!!

I love theatre and I've seen quite a few plays abroad and in Ukraine, and I can proudly recommend Ivano-Frankivsk Drama and Music Theatre even to the most picky ones. There is a vast variety of plays to choose from but bear in mind all of them are in Ukrainian. However, I once took my Chinese friend to see a play and though she dosn't speak Ukrainian she enjoyed it very much.

People working at Ivano-Frankivsk theatre are very professional and very popular in Ukraine and abroad. At this theatre you can be the first spectators of all their new works.
