Happy Boat Tour is the worst tour I've ever experienced.
Just like below reviewers, they try to scare us into buying their shoes from the beginning. This is understandable.

However, they will blame weather, tide, national park rangers, anything, to take things out of your itinerary.

4 Islands (Maiton, Green, Phi-Phi, Khai) Tour?
Yeah right.

Maiton is a private island. It is owned by a private resort. Unless the tour company buys permit, they cannot bring people there. Which is why from the very start of the tour, they blamed the weather (monsoon season even though it hasn't rained a single drop for a few days) and told us that the beach is too murky to snorkel.

Green Island. This was actually an ok experience.

Phi-Phi? Just like the other reviewers said, we stayed one hour! This included walking to the restaurant and coming back. So quickly we ate, got to dip our feet in the water for 5 minutes, visit a restroom, and run back to the boat because they don't even do a head count. Bye-bye phi phi. My only memory of Phi-Phi is eating at a crappy restaurant. Just 2 days ago, I had better buffet on a big boat that was much cheaper than this tour.

Monkey Beach on Phi-Phi island. Hmm. This is where the tour really revealed themselves as a bunch of scam artists. We were supposed to visit before lunch. When we arrived, the captain said, we should go to the restaurant first because there will be too many people at the restaurant soon. After we ate, he blamed the tide and told us that we cannot dock when 5 other speedboats with same size and same engines were all docking! A few of us got up and started to complain about their cancellation of Maiton and now their cancellation of monkey beach when every other speed boats were landing! Then, the guide said that the true reason is that their tour "DOESN'T INCLUDE" the national park fee and if we land, the national park ranger will charge each person 400 Baht! We told them that they'd better pay that since they already cancelled one of our destinations. After more arguing, they finally agreed to stop at the beach. Hmmm... Wait at the restaurant? Tide? National Park Fee? What is this place? Are they even legal? Or are they just lazy? Not sure.

Khai was pretty good.

Well, at the end of the tour, you guessed it... Not many people tipped.

If you want to go to Phi-Phi island for one of the worst buffets that you have to eat under an hour, choose this tour. If not, choose something else.

A trip to Phi-Phi we absolutely won't forget.
We booked the tour through an agent near Grand Mercure Patong where our travel agent Bee sold us a 4 island tour for 2 costing 2500 baht. The agent promised us that in case of bad weather, the tour will be cancelled and refunded. It was raining on the day of the tour and we were unsure whether the tour would be cancelled. Happy boat travel picked us from the hotel and drove us for about an hour to the meeting point.

We reached the meeting point where there wereapproximately 50 travellers who were briefed on the plan for the day. After an hour of trying to coax us into buying equipment and gears by scaring us about sea urchins and corals, the guides named 'Pom' and 'Yui' split the travellers into 2 groups. A batch of approximately 35 in the 3 engine boat and the rest in a 2 engine boat.

We set off to the first stop where they took us snorkelling and wrapped it up in half an hour. The next stop was phi phi island where we stopped for only an hour for the lunch they were supposed to provide. The lunch was tasteless and watery (nothing short of being a dog's meal) Lucky for us McDonald's was just 700m away.

Post lunch we set off for the next island and I swear I will never forget this part of the trip! Never ever!

The water was a bit choppy at the beginning and the trip was about 45 mins to the next island. It started to rain heavily and the boat kept hitting the waves like as if it were to be our last ride. It felt nothing less than a disaster movie, the fright on everyone's face was saddening. We had no control over the situation. The boat kept swaying violently and with some of the passengers at the front of the boat being flung from the seat and fell to the floor of the boat. Half the boat was sea sick and kept vomiting in the bags.

The 45 min ride went over 2 hours because of the weather, and towards the end of the ride our captain gets a call that the other 2 engine boat has ran out of gasoline! By show of hands Yui our tour guide asked who wants to go back to Phuket. Out of fear for our lives we all agreed to go back to Phuket and skip the rest of the tour.

To sum the tour up, we stopped for 30 mins snorkelling, an hour for lunch at phi phi with some disastrous food, a 2 hour life threatening speedboat ride and zero visits to any island. I swore we would never go back to Phi Phi ever again. Tour operators and agents like these should never operate and put people's lives at risk.

We spoke to a couple from the 2 engine boat who were amongst the other group stranded in the rough sea with no gasoline in the boat. They managed to make it to 300 metres from the shore and had to be rescued by another boat once they managed to make it to a nearby island. I believe this group would have had a far more worse experience that we did and we were just appalled by how terrible a tour can get.

What annoys us the most is that they know that the weather is not the best for a tour, and they don't cancel it in the first place only so that they can make money. It's just been a terrible experience and Phuket/Phi Phi has been a sheer disappointment because of Happy Boat Travel.

I have gone on phi phi snorkelling trips about 4x prior to this, but I have never ever had such a bad experience with any company like this one.

Our guide, Rio was the biggest pain ever. He was shouting throughout the trip. When we got there, he started by saying that there will be many jellyfish and we should put on sunscreen (huh? It works?) and that if we do not have sunscreen we can purchase from them. He repeated this about 10x at least until I started feel anxious and imagined that he is bringing us to a place full of jellyfish to snorkel in. After this, he started on sea urchins. He showed scary pictures of people’s feet after stepping on urchins and said that there will be many sea urchins and that we should rent the flippers from them for a fee. After this was done, he spoke about the mouth piece on the snorkelling gear. He mentioned that they have been reused many times by Indians, Filipinos, Chinese etc etc and do not complain about the smell to him and if we want we can purchase a new mouth piece instead. The whole 1 hour ‘lecture’ by him was about sales. At one point I even thought of not proceeding with the trip! It was that bad!
They cramped us all into 1 boat which was so cramped.

Rio very aggressive and rude for eg:

1) He said ‘I am in charge of the boat, you listen to me’
2) When the boat stopped for snorkelling, there seem to be many who do not seem experienced, and took their time to get into the water, Rio would force them to ‘go inside’ the water.
3) When we stopped for lunch he asked us to return by 1350hrs and said that if we are not back , he had ‘one word’ for us and that is ‘you go back yourself’. But in the end, he himself got back to the boat at abt 1400hrs!

Lunch in Phiphi was horrible as usual (it is always bad, no matter which company is engaged).

We were lucky that we had a good time on our own in the waters. We even saw dolphins. There were no ‘many many jellyfish’ like what he said. No one stepped on any sea urchins (it was not that shallow).

It is sad though, that the beaches and sea were so overcrowded.

Please avoid this company at all cost.

This was meant to be one if the highlights of our trip to Thailand but was left disappointed. The hotel pickup was ok then arrived at the meeting point before heading to the speed boat and that’s where it all went down hill. They told you that you needed to buy the sand slippers at 350THB per pair or other wise you would not be able to walk on the sand without having you feet cut up but the broken shells /and razor sharp coral so as there was 5 of us that was $80AUD gone. Then they tried to sell you your own mouth piece for the snorkels cause they could not guarantee that they were really clean. So to be safe you need to make a purchase of these but we did not fall for this one
Then we headed to the boat which was very so crowded that you felt like you were sitting on top of the person next to you. And all you could see in the boat was the person sitting opposite you as seating was down the sides of the boat The first stop was snorkelling off the back of the boat which was ok if you wanted to get in the water otherwise you just had to sit on the boat Then off to see another island but you had to stay on the boat again and only get off to snorkel A stop to look at the monkeys pfrom the boat which was ok then off to Phi Phi island for lunch. You were only given 1 hour here to eat lunch and explore the island. The lunch was average in a huge mess hall of crowds all trying to eat there lunch in such a hurry to get back to the boat to move onto the last stop Then off to last island where you had to pay a small fee just to go onto the island then where told that if you wanted to sit in the shade you needed to purchase a drink at 150 THB per person and of course they directed you to a place they recommend And then at the end they passed around the tip bucket for the crew .
It felt like all they cared about was the $$$$$$$$.
And after the day we where all still wondering why we had been tricked into the sand slippers, when our thongs would have been fine:
And you are going to get wet way above your knees getting on and off this boat at every stop
The only positive was they did have plenty of water to drink on the boat .

Worst experience of all. Firstly they made us submitted our slippers so we could buy from them the so called "safe ones" and then they didn't give us our slippers back at phi phi island where all other companies were returning slippers to their tourist. It was so hot at phi-phi island and it burnt our feet as we were not given our slippers back when we were taken for lunch. Then when i demanded for my pair of sketchers sandals, which were very precious and useful for me throughout the trip, they were not found anywhere. The guide couldn't understand simple English language even the operator at the company's helpline had awful language skills. I m sharing the picture of guide for the reference.

This is the worst tour I have ever been on. It started off with the tour guide showing us pictures of bloodied feet with sea urchin spines in them. She gave us a lecture scaring many into buying expensive reef shoes, and enticing us to buy overpriced towels because of being told there would be nowhere to sit on one of the islands. She ordered us around for the whole tour in an unpleasant manner. At the start all those who didn’t buy the reef shoes had to take their shoes off and then they were put into a giant plastic bucket. We had to pose for photos on a beach before getting into the boat. I pointed out some glass just 30 cm from my feet. There was rubbish everywhere. We were then herded like cattle into a tiny boat and then each trip to each island was an unpleasant experience of petrol fumes, no views except out the back, and very loud engine noise while being squashed. I was sitting with a good view of the rubbish bin, which was right in front of me. As for PhiPhi Island we were herded down a concrete path with Barbwire fences on either side into a giant hall with plastic chairs and hordes of tourists and piles of filler food. I could hardly wait to get out of there. As for the last island we were just part of the tourist hoards completely overcrowding the island, being nipped by sand insects because we didn’t want to pay for a deckchairs which were crammed into sweaty tents.

Have given 3 stars but would have been 2 had it not been for the beautiful island. Another company may give a better experience. There were FAR too many people on the boat which meant when snorkelling you queued to get off and then back on the boat. And it was a long ride so more room was needed to be comfy. The lady guide does a difficult job keeping different nationalities to the schedule but needs to treat guests less like school children and more like paying guests. On the whole it was OK but could have got 4 or 5 stars if boat less crammed and a more polite guide. Value-wise it was OK I suppose.
