In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful beaches on the islands around Phuket. A unique beach with white sand. We had lunch here, and after that we had an hour to swim and relax by the beach. If you are lucky, you may also get this experience and stop on a tour of one of the islands.

If you like rather Long Beaches, this is the best of Phi Phi. Not far from the village (30-40 min walk), easy path and with a decent number of restaurants and hotels. Clear water and shadow make it perfect for a beach day.

See my review of Holiday Inn for some information on exactly how beautiful Laem Tong beach is. In this review, I would like to indicate what walks are available around the Laem Tong area for those who like to walk when they are not swimming.
Laem Tong is isolated. There are no roads connecting Laem Tong to the rest of the island with the one exception of a paved footpath, used as a road by motorcycles and bicycles (so keep a watch while walking on it) linking Laem Tong with the next beach south where Phi Phi Village is and also the Outrigger resort. About a 60 minute walk basically level with up and down undulations and following the coast, the walk is worth doing just to see Phi Phi Village and/or to take advantage of the far cheaper services on offer in the village (eg, Thai massages at half the resort prices). There are multiple bars and cheap travel outlets offering daytrips. Even a hair salon. All in quaint shopfronts lining the windy "road" through the centre of the village.
Beyond Phi Phi village heading south is the beginning of what we were told (but did not verify ourselves) is a narrow unpaved track through the jungle to get to Tonsai, a further one hour's walk away.
You cannot walk any distance in a westerly direction across the width of the Laem Tong peninsular except in two ways (there may be others but we couldn't find them). One is to follow the signposted route through the Holiday Inn resort to its sunset bar perched high atop a cliff on the west coast. The other is to walk up the beach until you reach the dive shop with the tower outside advertising another sunset bar. Take the "road" by this tower and it will lead you in a flat 10min walk to the ocean pier on the west side of the peninsular. Good sunset viewing for free from here.
A walk to the north of Laem Tong beach is possible but is challenging. Go through Phi Phi Natural resort and past its pool area. You will find a track paralleling the beach heading north. This track eventually terminates but nearby is an unpaved "road" which goes up and away from the coast. It was so muddy when we were there, we did not take this route but it probably leads north as the peninsular at this point is very narrow. We instead followed the beach but the walk gets increasingly difficult because of large boulders strewn all over the beach, and only possible at low tide anyway (beware the rising tide doesn't strand you on the way back!)

This is a great place to stay if you are into snorkelling. There is reasonable snorkelling off the rocky outcrop on the northern end. We didn’t try the one at the southern end. Not a wide variety of marlife but good for practicing with your under water camera or other gear before visiting the spectacular sites.
Hire longtails not through your hotel but the skippers hanging out in front of the sign for Sea Gypsy Village near Jasmine restaurant on the beach. They can discuss best time in terms of tides to visit different sites. If you want to swim with sharks in Phi Phi Lei you need to leave early in the morning. A good two day itinerary is to book a half day to Bamboo and Mosquito islands as well as Ao Nui, Ao Loh Lanta and Monkey Beach in Phi Phi Don. Our second half day was at various sites of Phi Phi Lei with a visit to any missed sites on Don on the way back.
Practicalities: There are no ATMs on Laem Tong and getting to Ton Sao the other side of the island involves a long tail (1000 baht each way per boat) or the shuttle (200 baht per person but it only runs twice a day). If you don’t want to waste time or money get cash before you arrive.
We found two convenience stores. One in the Sea Gypsy Village. Ask about it at Mama Seafood restaurant where you will be directed down an alley. The other is at the back of Malee Seafood restaurant. Compare prices. The Sea Gypsy Village Shop was cheaper for bottled water. The independent restaurants are in between the Erawan and Holiday Inn resorts. Though there is another south of the Holiday Inn, across the road and through the rocky uphill path in a small woodland patch.

Laem Tong Bay is the home to four resorts (of varying prestige), 6 or 7 restaurants, one small shop and the sea gypsy village. It’s about a mile long, with crystal clear water, white sand, and no litter - and being far too far to walk from TonSai beach for 99% of the backpacker crowd, the vibe is relaxed and fun without being raucous or annoying. Almost everyone who visits does so by water, capping its crowdedness, and with limited return journey options for day trippers, most of those who are relaxing there at night are guests at one of the resorts. Best restaurants are the two sea gypsy-run ones (Jasmin for traditional Thai food, Malee for seafood), and they’re also about half the price of the other ones (which are all run by the resorts) - this is true for food and beer. Avoid Sawasdee in particular, it’s just a bit rubbish...

Beautiful beach, extraordinary colors of nature, nothingness.........enjoy the simplicity of life. Sit in your bikini, read a novel under the trees, float on the water, enjoy the gentle drizzle, walk on the soft sand, eat delicious food at the tiny restraunts, go for a long tail boat ride or take a speed boat to the nearby Bamboo island or Maya bay, Loh Sama bay. Take in the beauty of marine life while snorkelling just a little distance off the beach. There is ample to do here and yet there is nothing. This is the best gift you can give yourself.
The are a few hotels you can choose from. We stayed at the Holiday Inn, which was an experience in itself. Lovely place.
There are two ferrys that come to this beach, one at 7am and the other at 1pm. You can use these to go to Tonsai Bay, which is about a thirty minute ride away, incase you feel the need to see people and shop, and of course change currency. The ferry cost is about 200 TB per person.
Else you can arrange for a ride through your hotel, or with the locals with whom you will need to negotiate the cost.
Beautiful experience. Can easily spend a whole week here!

We stayed at Zeavola which was amazing.
Laem Tong beach is stunning with soft sand and crystal clear water. Its not crowded either which is nice. The Sea Gypsy village has good food as does the Chillie Pepper which is just up the hill past Holiday Inn. Great view with cheap tasty meals.

When people think of Ko Phi Phi they think of Tonsai bay. Big mistake.
The place you should really go to is Laem Tong Bay and stay in one of the resorts. We stayed in the Holiday Inn and despite the fact that we don't really like beach vacations, we fell in love with the place. This area of the island is beautiful and secluded. Hardly any tourists stay here and yet the ones that stay here seem laid back and nice.
You get the feeling of a secret place nobody knows about.
Highly recommended

Laemtong Beach (Long Beach) for leisure activities was for on our own - swimming,
snorkeling, and strolling up hill for a view over the isthmus. The area was very calm and not crowded giving the peace to mind and soul. Buffet lunch was
served at a local restaurant on Long Beach.

What is the best pier to take the ferry to get to the island of Phi Phi in order to reach Laem Tong Bay where our resort is located? I will be in Railay for two days before coming here. Also at what time does the ferry leave and at what time do you get to Laem tong?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. We took a speed boat to Phi phi town pier and the a long tail boat took us on a 25 minute raid to our resort which was on the east and quiet side of the island. It was paradise.
