One of the oldest observatories, has a good museum where a lot of information on planets are available. Timings of the museum - 10 am to 12 pm, 2 pm to 4 pm. Entry - free 5-6 km from Kodaikanal Lake area.

After a pleasant walk we reached the visitors room where they showed the different phenomena of light and astronomy and instruments and posters of different facts . A learning experience. The person there was very friendly and simplified all things nicely.

This is at the highest point in the region. parking is along the sides of the road. Mobiles and Cameras are banned. Once inside after providing details at the front gate walk to the museum. This is inside the forest area and up hill. Planets...More

Though scientific place, a must visit place if your have school going childrens. Its very unusual for us to get opportunity to visit observatory work like this which is under "Indian Institute of Astrophysics"
