Route suggestion: you can visit first the Tsar Samuel's Fortress and then this church because it is on the way anyway (going downhill), both attractions are very close to each other). It is recommended to go inside the church to check the paintings, frescoes. Entrance...More

The discreet church situated right at the highest point of the old fortress's very attractive view of the interior is the original one worth going in.

enering the charch is a journey back to one the most important period of the bizantine art. The frescos are of immense beauty and trascend the local importance. Not to be missed

Our quite at the early Christian basilica advised us to visit this church and look for the fresco that depicts God as a woman. It was not easy to spot it, but it made our day memorable!

An interesting sight in that it is the only church we had ever seen that had friezes on the outside as well as the inside, although they are now surrounded by the outer wall which was added at a later date to protect the damaged...More

Amazingly restored and completed frescoes that almost completely cover the interior. Worth popping over to the icon gallery opposite to see many 11th century icons from churches from Ohrid and around the Balkans.
