On a group tour to Bahariya, we stopped to see the museum and excavation site of the Golden Mummies. It was late on a Friday and as a part of the Muslim holiday Eid el Adha. We saw the mummies and they were quite interesting....More

Its located just as you enter the Oasis. Check the time and date its sometimes closed.

Recent discoveries of 10,000 mummies in a field outside of town have the place on the map. Half a dozen are on display. They date from the Greco-Roman period. Very interesting.

This site and the cemetary the mummies came from can be had for one price. If you do not speak Arabic, it may be good to get a Bedoin guide as these sites are not easy to locate and you will get more details about...More
