This village which still has no mains electricity was reached after a 3-hour journey from the upper lake, passing the former checkpoint beyond which no tourists were permitted under the previous regime. Far fewer boats are on the waterways linking two lakes and you get...More

The journey to the remote Sagar Village took approximately 2.5 hours. This is a wonderful trip when you finally exit the main lake and then meander along the waterway through the various villages with views of the distant shoreline covered in vegetation, tilled fields, grazing...More

It was intersting to read the other reviews about Sagar and see that most people had taken a lengthy boat ride to get there. We made most of our way to Sagar on foot. We started trekking from somewhere near Kalaw the day before and...More

This involves quite a long boat ride. However in doing so, you shed the touristy areas and get to see the real Inle Lake.

Almost a three hour boat trip [4 people per boat] to Sagar across the lake and down water channels. Perhaps this was the best part of the day as one observed the life of the people in their stilt houses and small boats. At Sagar...More

Sankar village is very remote. A round trip will be about 6-8 hours, depending on the amount of time you stay on the island. I love the village and people living there. But I personally don't think it is worth spending the whole day on...More
