This is a must see for its frescoes, a millennia old. They are lovely and should not be missed. There is parking here as well, which does not show on the tourist map.

This little church has 13th, 14th and 17th century frescoes. The woman there said it is one of only 3 medieval churches that survive in Bulgaria.

This church is a bit hidden, on the Tsarevets hill peninsula, not far from the 40 martyrs church. Very nice frescoes inside.

Building does not look like anything from the outside as elements of Christianity were not allowed when it was built under the Ottomans. But murals inside are unbelievable. Incredible details and no surface is left uncovered. Well worth the trek to get to this little...More

This is now a termed a museum bus has the 'feel' of the church that it once was. Painted walls and ceilings are the main point of visiting but various singers perform for groups visiting.

I really enjoyed the concert by four older men with excellent voices and harmony. A truly wonderful experience.
