Apparently these are the longest seafront botanic gardens in the world.

They are well laid out and you can meander along the paths and keep an eye on the beach at the same time.

There are lots of sculptures along the way and there is a surprising amount of bird life.

If you battle to walk the flat paths make this an easy perambulation.

My wife and I had planned to walk along the very long garden between the sandy beach and the busy roadway. However, once it started to rain, we gave up. It looks like that there is a very good paved path for bicycles or roller blades. We did see some flowers.

Santos has the largest open air gardens in the world (Guinness Book of Records). Sharing an island with neighboring city of Sāo Vicente, Santos was founded in 1542 while S Vicente in 1531 (first Brazilian City). Santos hosts the largest/busiest port of South America, the famous soccer clube Santos Football Club (for which Pelé played his full career in Brazil). The beach is very calm because it is in a bay surrounded by mountains on both sides. Adults and children play with minimum risks. Low waves for surfing did not prevent it to be its birthplace in Brazil and home of first famous Brazilian surfer Picuruta Salazar (in his 50s now & 2 world championships). High demographic density with some 500,000 inhabitants in 30 km2 and 8km of beach long allow walking tour everywhere. Enjoy it, I’ll be there if you need :)

Santos, located some 75km from São Paulo, was an important entry point into Brazil, as it brought waves of immigrants in, and was and still is the main export point for the Brazilian products, including coffee. The port is also the largest seaport in Latin America. It is located next to the old city of Santos, that deserves a visit, as it is very different from the present modern city, and houses the Coffee Museum. The modern part of Santos is close to the beaches and touristic attractions. The beaches are well organized, not entirely clean despite the many efforts of the Municipality and various NGOs, bounded by the world longest beach garden and a forest of modern buildings. Santos is a very pleasant place to enjoy a beach rest, as it is less crowded than most other famous beaches of Brazil.

Extremely beautiful well kept gardens along the extension of the shore. A variety of trees, plants and flowers spread between the street and the edge of the sidewalk by the sand. Several exercises stations if you are in a mood to exercise, or benches to sit down and relaxing sipping on a cold coconut water directly from the fruit. A variety of options to eat from. Very colorful vendors on the way as well. We could find mostly of everything to buy.

Spent 4 days on the beach. Although not entirely clean, the sand is flat and had great fun in the sea due to good active waves with no under current. This is a family friendly beach - no intimidation and everyone keen to look after each other - beer 5 real. Although not as luxurious as beaches further along the coast, we had a good time here.
