The Sambodromo was built because of the samba schools‘ parade. However, there are more activities there. There are big concerts, there is a museum etc. The carnival parade is the main spot. It is well organized, but the restrooms are dated, the restaurants are average...More

Considering the number of english speakers in Rio and Brazil are EXTREMELY limited; this was still one of my favorite trips. The color, the size of the events and the grandeur of the Carnival in Rio made it all worthwhile. I bought my tickets for...More

We visited the Sambodromo as part of a tour with C2 Rio. I found that this was a fun stop as you could see where the Carnival is held every year. They also have lots of costumes you can try on for 10 reals.

This place is worth popping in to see the site of the famous Carnival. It isn't a particularly prepossessing building but a place to imagine the event for 5 minutes before moving on.

Carnival and soccer. You must see this venue and how it was built to accompany such a crowd. The history and preparation time every year for the Carnival is amazing. Definitely a must while in RIO to absorb the culture.

I was there during the carnival final. It is fantastic. The place has a very good energy. And is safe enough for Rio standards.

I had one of the best nights of my life in the Sambadrome on the 3rd night of carnival. We were seated in section 10 which is apparently quite close to the judges and so the schools usually perform their "surprise" events around here and...More
