This is the most beautiful and popular beach in Rio. It is so long that it does not feel crowded and that one cannot walk the entire length, especially when the temperature is 95 degrees F.

We stayed in a hotel on Copacabana. The beach was lovely as you would expect, soft sand and crashing waves. Much safer than we had imagined, we were approached by vendors, but never hassled at all!

Had a swim in the sea and sand in the toes, we didn't have the best of weather - hot but showery for our visit but still a great place, The beach bars are fine as well.

I stayed at Copacabana Beach, closer to Leme, which is one block off, and is defineity nicer than Impanema. It it was quieter, cleaner, and more upscale adults. If you are looking for a social, party theme then Impanema is your beach. If you are...More

Lots of vendors. Beautiful scenery. It is what you expect. Cheap chairs and umbrellas. TripAdvisor requires more and that sucks

Its a nice beach! People told me to be careful for muggers yet everything was fine. There are many sellers so just say no thank you and move on! Night time is better!

It is a nice beach with a good panoramic view, but very noisy. It is not for taking a nap, or reading a good book. Many people selling from corn to shrimps, from hats to clothes, from caipirinha to beers. The good thing are near...More

One of the most famous beaches in the world. Very large beach with thousands of locals enjoying themselves every day. The water is warm and the surf very active which makes for a fun time. Football is all the rage. Never seen so many thongs!

If you would like to be on most crowded beach with lot of action, Copacabana is right place for you. Otherwise, Ipanema is better.

The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional
and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood
is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and
traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of
everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs,
chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and
more live side-by-side. There are options for all
price points and tastes. However, the most powerful

We stayed one block away from the beach front at Copacabana and felt perfectly safe at all times. A common sense approach to keeping "low key" is advisable. (i.e. no jewellery, flashy clothes etc).
