Good Art Exposition
Oct 2019
Do not expect (as me) an exposition about Roberto's biography or the Globo Network history. Even the house's furniture is not there. It is an amazing exposition of art pieces, that is all. It's a visit for 1 to 2 hours.

The priceless legacy of the Marinho Family to Rio de Janeiro!
Aug 2019
Not very long ago, the iconic manorial house of the Roberto Marinho Family in Rio de Janeiro was transformed into a cultural center and opened to the public. To those that are not acquainted with the local scene, Mr. Roberto Marinho was the most important tycoon of the Brazilian communications industry, owning newspapers, radio stations, magazines and the almighty "TV Globo". The house was built around 1939, right under Rio's legendary Christ the Redeemer monument, with lush gardens (by famous Roberto Burle Marx) and the historical "Carioca" river peacefully running through the property. In this scenic surroundings, one of the most important art collections in Brazil is displayed. Take your time and enjoy masterpieces by Portinari, Pancetti, Tarsila, Di Cavalcanti, Segall, Djanira and many other Brazilian painters and sculptors. Foreign artists as Dali, Chagall, De Chirico, Utrillo, Cocteau, Lurçat ... are also there. Before going, check about temporary exhibitions and weather conditions, as "Casa Roberto Marinho" and its gardens are best visited on nice and sunny days. A small cafeteria ("Metiers"), a bookshop ("Pinakotheke") and free parking are available. Enjoy!

Excellent artsy spot not far from the Corcovado tram station
Aug 2019 • Friends
Great mansion, turned into a museum, which is currently hosting an exhibition on the work of Brazilian modernist artist Djanira. A second exhibition, "Estrangeiros", displays the collection of Roberto Marinho, the Brazilian communications businessman who lived in the manor. Among the works, Debret's illustrations of colonial Brazil are a must-see.
