More
Rebel Salvador has been suspended until further notice. Please refer to our official page for more info. Rebel Salvador - Free Walking Tours is a collective of photographers, graphic designers, wannabe anthropologists and architecture lovers, native and foreigner, with a true passion for venturing into the uncharted, rough-around-the-edge, off-the-beaten-path realms of Salvador's Historic Centre. We also nurture an utter despise for the Old Town's mischaracterization by the tourism industry. Because there's a lot more beauty to it than hollow colonial houses, annoying peddlers, and "local souvenirs" made in China. We want you to come escape this sieged little playpen with us. We want you to experience the godforsaken bits of Salvador where people will go about their daily lives despite of tourists, not because of them. We want you to see, feel, and be a part of the Historic Centre's decay in its full glory.

Amy, the walks have been suspended until further notice as can be seen at our official page (this service blocks the link). Unfortunately we have little to no control over this page. I have asked them to take it down and they said they couldn't;...More

There is nothing better than wandering the streets where there are few tourists and the real life of Salvador can be found. Starting in Pelourinho and continuing to less well known parts of the city, this tour is like the backstage guide to Salvador. Pedro,...More

Loved the free walking tour. It was nice to do something a little different and not just follow the touristy path. Our guide was so passionate about the city and really informative. Highly recommend.

Pedro the guide is brilliant and shows you a different side to Salvador than the guide books suggest you see. A side that is absolutely worth seeing. Honesty, beautiful people and interesting buildings make for a great tour. Highly recommended!

Everyone warned me about how "dangerous" Salvador was before I went there. It was in fact an eye opening experience to see the charm, history, and culture of this beautiful colonial city. Just like anywhere else in the world, take it with a grain of...More

Pablo the guide was fantastic. Such a great idea for those visiting the city. Gives real insight and info about Salvador, warts and all. Also seeing the back alleys and real downtown.

The tour is much different than the regular ones - it takes you off the regular path to unexplored areas of the city, gives a peek into the real lives of a few people and a lot of history/politics that you don't get to know...More

Excellent tour which takes you out of the tourist traps and gives a flavour of this vibrant, diverse city. Pedro makes the tour and provides insight into past and present Salvador. I now wish I was staying here longer.

If you're coming to Salvador, do this tour before anything else. Had we done this tour earlier in our stay we probably would have enjoyed our overall Salvador experience more. Pedro took us to the parts of town we wanted to see but weren't sure...More
