The market was a stop on a tour we took in Salvador. It's a historic building that's now a tourist trap. The merchandise all seemed the same.......there was no way to know if most things were authentic crafts or imported junk.

Located in lower town near the port terminal is this large undercover market, however, during our visit it was under going refurbishment, and a lot of stall were set up in a marquee, this did not dissuade the vendors or the shoppers, it had a really good vibe and we enjoyed shopping there before heading back to the ship.

Absolutely nothing to see or buy. All the kiosks have the exact same items & absolutely no variety.Don’t waste your time.

I’m glad my brother and I stopped in here before heading up the elevator. I felt safe inside the market but keep close eye on your valuables. Temperature checks and alcohol hand wash were mandated upon entry. I bought a cute backpack for 15 reals. I bought a cute shot glass I didn’t see at any other shops.

This is a typical tourist market, with lots of souvenirs. It is within walking distance of the cruise terminal and you can walk right through it on the way to the elevator. There is a restaurant at the top but I never tried it.

The market was jammed with mostly tourists the day we were there. Hammocks were a popular buy. Otherwise, typical items (mostly for tourists) you find in a market. This matket has very many stalls! It is walking distance from the cruise terminal. Worth going to especially if you aren't on a group tour.

Every section had the same kind of items a few better and few ok quality. Not many people hawking their wares, so that was relaxing-ish.
A few booths had unique items. As long as you walk all the way through it, you'll find something unique.
The restaurant up top (named for a woman, I can't remember), there are 2, I went to the left one. It was meh, maybe the other one was better.

The market was lively and full of many souvenirs to choose from, yet it seemed as it could have been any other market in Brasil or other part of the world.
You’ll get many calls into shops and offers. Although you may find a good deal or two.

This is a very popular local market for selling typical tourist stuff. It was once a port Customs Building and now converted to a market. This building can get hot inside despite fans and quite crowded when the cruise ships are in port. Inside are two levels of shopping. The roof has many holes in it.
BOTTOM LINE: You don't need to spend more than 15-30 minutes to visit here. It seems like most of the vendor stalls carry about the same stuff from aisle to asile. We found nothing "locally made" that we just had to buy. There are a few restaurants here and a bar. You'll not miss much if you can't don't come here. MY RATING: 5/10
WARNING: Be careful with any valuables you may have including cameras, phones, wallets or loose jewelry. We were warned by a local to "be careful" when shopping here. I did not shoot any photos here so as not to tip-off someone wanting a nice camera to snatch.
