I loved this place. It isn't fancy, but it is interesting if you enjoy nautical museums and are interested in Portuguese colonial history in Brazil. Who knew that 5 million African slaves were brought to Brazil through the port of Salvador? I did not. Climb...More

This fort is in perfect shape, surely renovated for tourism. At the same time it is very cool and perfectly located. If you get there by 17:30 pm, you can also watch the sunset behind the fort. People gather there to relax, sing and live...More

The museum is not big. Going upstairs is a must have experience to see part of Salvador from the top of the lighthouse. There is a cafe inside, but we did not try it.

This is a rather small museum but I enjoyed it tremendously. Two aspects of it that I liked: The review of the history of Portuguese exploration in the 15th-16th centuries, and the findings that were dug from an old ship that sank in the bay...More

The lighthouse is a very impressive building, which makes for great landscape pictures. It houses the nautical museum - a fascinating little attraction by itself well worth a visit.

There is good historic info in this museum. Also a photo exhibit that was interesting. The site's right on the sea which was rough and fun to watch the day I went.

It's right where the bay opens into the Atlantic Ocean, so its museum tells a lot of history on the early settlement of Bahia. There is a fair amount of content in English language.

When going to Salvador, you need to spend some time and go to Farol da Barra. Besides a historical place, the view around is very beautiful.
