This beach will vary from season to season because of the rise and fall of the river. There is a luxury hotel here but it is falling into a bit of decay.

It's hard to describe how weird arriving at Ponta Negra beach is - it's an ocean side beach with everything that you'd expect but there's land on the other side of the bay... wait... it's not a bay, it's not the sea, it's the Rio...More

Good place to cool off the city heat. Well kept city beach, with nice views, clean sand and several kiosks to help you spent the day.

This is a long beach with buoys in the water that limits how far out you can swim. There are nearly no piranhas (you do not have to worry to be sure) in the Rio Negro and the water is always warm. Also, no mosquitoes...More

A nice beach - with many bars and restaurants...it gets a bit crowded on the weekends...but so do most nice beaches. I like it.
