I have experienced the "Encontro das aguas" on the way to my lodge so it was part of the tour. This is the place where Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes (Amazon) are meeting but they do not miss. Amazon has some beige sediments and this...More

It is fascinating to see the two completely rivers converge. One colder, the other warmer, one cleaner, free of live organisms the other full of life and impurities. Besides all this the boat ride is great, especially in a hot day.

The weather was rainy the day we went out and the waters were very choppy. To say the least, the small boat we took (there were only two of us) had us bouncing all over the place and I was scared I was going to...More

Very interesting and unique hydrological phenomenon. If you can, go there with a private speed boat, so much faster and more flexible. The captains usually are very knowledgable and will take you to places where the larger boats can’t reach.

You can pay to see this on a trip In a small boat from Manaus but if you arrive or leave upriver you will get a better look from the ferry for free.

the better of these trips is the longer and more expensive one which includes a surprisingly good buffet lunch. Seeing the meeting of the waters is extraordinary you travel by local river boat [toilet and covered top deck] and then later transfer to motorised canoes....More

Ending up stopping here at the end of an Amazon 4 day cruise with a company called ‘amazon clipper’. It was a great sight to see the meeting of the waters. Would definitely recommend a day trip or an amazon cruise with this included.

A must see near Manaous whichever lodge you are staying at. Very strange and intruiging place with natural interest. Thanks again to the great Elmo (from Manati Lodge) for the useful info.

Easiest way is to take a ( cheap) taxi. Agree a price beforehand, make sure the driver knows the destination first. Arm your self with a map!
