A little fox shrine located into the Kamakura hills, which Google maps made us go through several feet through the hillside until other travelers told us that there was an alternate route from the train station through several homes. Silly us! Once arriving, you will...More

This is the small brother of the shrine in Kyoto. If you are in the Tokyo area and don't have the time to go to Kyoto, this is worth seeing. Close and accessible from Tokyo.

This is a little out of the way, though you can combine a visit with the Daibutsu Trail or visiting Zeniarai Benzaiken shrine. You emerge out of the Kamakura suburbs and dive down a long avenue of torii, with some fox guardians along the way....More

This shrine is off the beaten path. There were more locals than tourists in the area, and it was not at all crowded. The path of tori gates is neat as well as all the foxes left behind. You can even buy your own pair...More

We went to this shrine as it was on the way as we were done visiting the zeniarai benzaiten shrine. This shrine is really peculiar, there were many torii gates as we walked up to the main site, and while we were there we also...More

I've been to a good handful of fox shrines and this by far is my favorite. It is a little remote so there were very few people there. I saw maybe three people. It's in the forest creating a quiet, spooky atmosphere. There was even...More
