This is a fantastic area steeped in history with nice shopping and restaurants. Take a stroll down Duke street and see history unfold around you.

We loved the Torpedo Art building. It consists of small studios rented by artists to display, sell, and make their art. Very, very interesting and worth the time. Costs nothing to browse.

We hadn't been to Old Town in years, and were pleasantly surprised at the changes to the waterfront. A few old eyesores were gone, replace by a new boat club and a great park along the river.

Sort of like Georgetown. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Had a great happy hour at Hanks, then visited a couple of other restaurants. Should have stayed at Hank's for dinner!

Old town has a special kind of charm about it. The bricks, the occasional cobblestone road, and the scenic waterway all give it a nice atmosphere. There are even a few things to do if you’re light on cash, like visiting the torpedo factory (an...More

This is a place you want to spend the whole day walking on King St and hopping on every store you want. My favorite is Sur La Table

Great restaurants and bars close to the water. Walk along the cobble stone streets around Christmas time with all the Christmas lights and decorations. Find a quaint bar to have an apple cider and enjoy the warmth of a fire.

Great place to hang out, check out the tourist shops, browse the Torpedo Factory artist in residence studios, get a lunch, ice cream dessert at Ben & Jerry's, and walk along the shore of the Potomac River. George Washington spent much time in Alexandria as...More

Great fun things to do in OT Alexandria. Wonderful restaurants, tour boars, historical sights and very walkable area. Free open air shuttle goes end to end approx 2 miles for great on off access. We live 4.5 miles from OT and still go very often....More

The "Old Town" has a quaint feel to it, I think its trying to cater for the professional classes, nice square and limited shopping but lots of places to eat and drink.

Sorry Lynn I don’t know the answer to that question. We traveled here by plane and got around via walking. If you google-it I’m sure you’ll find the answer.

The trolley for Old Town is just outside of the Metro Station (not a block away... directly in front of the King street station). It looks like a bus stop there is a sign above it indicating it is the Old Town Trolley. So... More
