We took a short hike into the park and down to the small lake. I think the highlight was the peacocks roaming the area. Some beautiful trees and nice grounds

Calm peaceful park little out of the way but full of peacocks which are fun to photograph/chase around.

This was a neat outing! I love old historical structures and gardens. The many pools filled with plants and fish were nice. A few were under construction while we were there, so they were empty. But I'm glad the place is being managed and maintained....More

Had a recent visit to Mayfield park during the spring break. Kids are really enjoyed seeing the peacocks. There is a lakeside which is so scenic and beautiful. Definitely, a recommended place when you visit Austin.

Hard to imagine that you can park, stroll, and be surrounded by peacocks, all within just 5 minutes of exiting the car. The peacocks are absolutely beautiful, and appear to be quite comfortable having people gawking at them regularly. Definitely worth a visit.

A very nice place to stroll around the grounds. Peacocks and peahens own the place and are everywhere. The parking is limited.

We went to see the peacocks. The peacocks seem to live near the house just outside of the stone wall. We have never seen so many in one place. We had a great time watching, photographing, and listening to them call out. The water garden...More

We went because we heard a rare bird was visiting-but missed it. Pretty place, and peacocks all over. Took the hike to the lake, trails are NOT marked well and easy to get confused, but a pleasant walk. Not many birds on the trail either....More

My boyfriend googled this place and didn’t tell me where he was taking me. When I realized there were peacocks everywhere I was so excited!!! They’re beautiful! It’s such a nice little park and trail to wander on.

From where I parked, the trails were on the right, and the cottage was on the left. I added a photo (likely still being reviewed by Trip Advisor) to help clarify.

Yes, it is free. Take lots of film or a car charger for your camera or phone. You could do it in an hour, but the best experience is if you can spend several hours there, possibly, pack a small lunch and enjoy. Even small... More
