Mayfield Park is just within 0.5 miles from Mount Bonnell. It's a beautiful place to visit and see Peacocks and Peahens. They have more than a dozen peacocks freely roaming around. Stay for a while and you will be lucky to see a Peacock spreading...More

This place is lovely. The peacocks are obviously the main reason, but the grounds themselves are beautiful. Great for photographers and kids who can behave around wild animals. I'm not sure about the random abandoned house in the middle of it all -- I've been...More

Mayfield Park is a lovely place to have a picnic and take a nice walk. The peacocks are funny and the small house is available to rent for parties and even small weddings.

I have not had the privilege to see many peacocks and after visiting here they are now a favorite. I want all things peacock! What beautiful birds! My only regret is none displayed their feathers for me to get a good picture. They are comfortable...More

One of my favorite Austin destinations; a quiet gem of a park. Nice grounds to roam, near an excellent art installation, near water, shaded, and populated with many peacocks. Go for a bit of relaxing solitude or plan event. I wish I visited more often.

Took out grand kids there. They loved it. The birds, of course, as well as the ponds. We also visited the Lagona Goria art museum next door and wandered around the grounds and the hiking paths.

Grandchildren visiting so took them here to take a lot of pictures. A great place for photos. I love this park. It was under a little construction, but still a great place. The kids were intrigued by the peacocks. Beautiful.

The giant lilly pads, enormous koi, and multitude of peacocks were pure joy for myself and my kids. The staff even allowed my kids to help feed the peacocks. I can't believe I've lived in Austin my whole life and only recently discovered this place.

We spent a wonderful day exploring some (free!) off the beaten path gems in Austin recently. Our grandchildren who live nearby had never been here and wer excited to wander among the peacocks, peahens and baby chicks. The grounds were lovely. We spent about 30...More

From where I parked, the trails were on the right, and the cottage was on the left. I added a photo (likely still being reviewed by Trip Advisor) to help clarify.

Yes, it is free. Take lots of film or a car charger for your camera or phone. You could do it in an hour, but the best experience is if you can spend several hours there, possibly, pack a small lunch and enjoy. Even small... More
