Although, you can witness the bats for free from the many bridges, the bat tour is a must for first timers. It’s informative and boat guides add so much history and knowledge to the tour, plus, it’s a great view of the skyline from the...More

We went downtown with our visiting family to enjoy this local attraction. I expected to be underwhelmed but this was very cool. It was amazing how long the bats leaving the bridge lasted- easily a solid 10 minutes. We will definitely be back, and will...More

Thousands... millions... bats, bats and more bats! A constant stream dashing into the Austin dusk. Great people watching too! Hint: you need to be there just before dusk which, no matter what the guide books say, is not always 7:00 pm. Be forewarned!

What an exciting experience to watch the beautiful murmuration of the bats at sunset. It was truly breathtaking to watch tens of thousands of bats fly in perfect organization!

I've gone to 'see the bats' several times. The first 3 times were at the wrong time of year and I actually believed that this whole Bat Craze was blown way out of proportion. I finally went in the fall (not summer!) and the bats...More

I was walking along the river during the afternoon photographing birds and noticed a roar of squeaking as I passed under a bridge. I started looking around and found some signs that told about the bats. You could tell that there had to be thousands...More

When In Austin one of the “must dos” is to see the flying of the bats at dusk. Get there early as the bridge sidewalk can get crowded quickly.

I think so. I have observed groups in which there seems to be a guide or something like that.

I preferred taking a walk from both sides of the river and the view from the top of the bridge this will give you some nice pictures that will be a lot better than the views from the boat. However the guided boat would give... More
