It is well worth driving to West Texas to visit this park. In my opion, it is right up there next to the Grand Canyon in its awesomeness. Don't advise going in the summer when temps are said to reach 110 degrees.

Here's our Big Bend itinerary in hopes that you see yourself making the trip! First: May can be brutally hot. We got lucky in that the weather stayed below 100degrees most of the time. On the other hand, with water and preparation - we had...More

This National Park is what West Texas is all about. Most days it will be hot but the weather can sometimes be unpredictable. This place does not get the rain it needs and is in drought most of the time. You have to adapt to...More

Big Bend was never a high priority in terms of national parks that I would love to visit. But, living in Texas and not having enough PTO time, I decided to see this park on my birthday weekend. And wow! Was I pleasantly surprised. It...More

The scenery was pretty, especially the drive from marfa to bbnp. By late may we saw temps reach 110 degrees. Ideal for campers, hikers, off road vehicles. Not much for older couples to do unless you can hike. Would have enjoyed it more in my 30’s...More

Prior to visiting this National Park, we stayed in Marathon at the Gage Hotel. I highly recommend this place to stay as well as the adjacent White Buffalo Bar for drinks and eats. Also, make sure you fill your gas tank in Marathon before heading...More

Spend the morning there as early as you can when it's cool and much less crowded than the afternoon. Head to the centre, the Chisos basin and hike up any of the trails. Fabulous views and escape.

Definitely contact Panther Junction visitor center. When we visited last December we had 3 days at Bibe and wanted to do everything! The knowledgeable and courteous staff and volunteers helped us immensely.
