The most beautiful cathedral
Feb 2020
This place is just amazing. A Unesco heritage site, it was build by the monks following plans from Europe, but incorporating the local materials. This is how you have the most amazing windows from Mother of Pearl

Beautifully transformed into a museum
Oct 2018
The monastery has been transformed into a beautiful museum. The building itself is quite interesting but also complemented by thoughtful displays.

Very historical - well worth a visit
Jul 2019 • Family
We visited in July 2019 and were amazed by the whole place in terms of the architecture and beauty of the building and the many works of art brought from Spain and Mexico. If you're looking for religious art and history and background to the Spanish presence in the Philippines, this is definitely a place to visit. The entrance fee was 200 pesos for adults, with a reduction for students. We could easily have spent all day here.

Beautiful Catholic Church. Great historical information
Jan 2019 • Family
We happened upon this beautiful old Catholic church in our search for the Basilica. We never quite made it to the Basilica, but this was a lovely place to go and learn and pray and see some of the Catholic history that is so important to the Philippines. Informational placards in English explaining almost everything in the various buildings. Did seem somewhat crowded, but still room to move and pray and learn.

Religious architecture and history of the colonial period
Mar 2019 • Solo
This very well preserved set of buildings that illustrate the life of monks during Spanish times. The exhibit of clerical garments and ornaments is most impressive.

top attraction
Oct 2018 • Solo
The Monastery of Saint Agustin is located inside the San Augustin compound along with San Agustin Church and San Agustin Museum. The Monastery/ church/ museum housed inside such a historical as well as amazing architecture seen anywhere.

The monastery has a collection of religious artwork, colonial and pre-colonial artifacts, paintings, sculptures, religious items, relics and ecclesiastical props used throughout the church's history, the oldest pieces dating back to the founding of Intramuros itself.

It is the top attraction of Intramuros as well as Manila.

Beautiful Monastery and Collection
Mar 2018
When you visit Intramuros, this is one of the main stops you have to make. They have a great collection of religious artifacts, period pieces, statues, furniture and even texts on medicinal research conducted by the Religious Orders of the day. The building itself is beautiful as is the attached church and courtyard. You can go up to the second floor and see where the choir sits as well as take a peek over the main hall where a wedding might be taking place. The building is basically a walk through the different stages of the history of European contact with the Philippines.
The fountain in the courtyard has turtles in it ...
