Interesting and bizarre

The monastery allowed us to understand how life must have looked like during the early Spanish occupation of Manila. We especially liked the court garden of the monastery

The original building from the 1500's burnt down twice but the current church is now an imposing limestone building. Built to bring the Catholic religion to the indigenous animist/muslim population.

This review is quite late. The Monastery of Saint Agustin was built by the friars during the Spanish occupation in the Philippines. For more than four centuries it has survived all sorts of natural calamities. Good for a quick visit and snap shots.
