Impressive heritage

This was quite a surprise to me as I didn’t do a lot of research for Manila. It was just a stop over point.

This area is huge and the buildings each one significant in their own right.

But to be located all together is amazing. I did everything on foot which was quite the mission. You can get a bike tour on these bikes, called Lamborghini’s. It’s pretty cheap and I think worth it if it’s all the detailed information you want to hear.

If you go by foot you can make all sorts of discoveries. Little hidden nooks and crannies.

Fort Santiago was my favourite, and definitely worth the minuscule entry fee. You can also get a guide, but I found the interp signage on site adequate enough.

It took me about 3 hours to see what I wanted.

I should also tell you that the site is partly surrounded by a golf course. Incidentally I was struck by a golf ball hitting my back pack. This was so close to my neck and couldn’t ended painfully. Show extra caution up on this platforms/ old staging military raided platforms.

Nobody called four, I don’t know if this is a thing that’s said here. They held their hands up to apologise.

Wow! Anyway you were warned.

I really enjoyed it and it’s worth a look.

Take a walk on the wall. Or visit Manila Cathedral. Or just walk around the area and take in the architecture of the buildings in the old city.

Be careful with the price

The place in Intramuros is really nice and interesting. You can discover hold building from the spanish period. There is also many sight to watch (old church, wall). However, this great trip went bad as we were scammed!!!

Indeed, while making this trip, we took a bicycle guide which scammed us. We arranged a 300 peso (6 $) cost for the trip, but at the end he asked us 1'500 peso (~ 30 $). Arguing that it's a 300 peso per 30 minutes trip. I would not recommend to take a guide there, they are not trustworthy.

Just a bicycle alone and discover this place wich is still a must to see!

Intramuros looks like an old town. I went Casa Manila, Fort Santiago and rented bambike there to cycle see around. There are tricycles that you can find for only 350pesos(30mins) but we rented bambikes for 2hrs instead.

Have travelled to Manila many times in the past, but had no idea this gem of history existed.
Toured through the Intra muros (city within walls) on a horse-drawn cart with a very knowledgeable guide (1,000 pesos for an hour was great value..mobility limited me to doing the 2 hour trip for an even deeper intake of the place....really was a different world and opened our eyes to the Manila history of centuries.

We went here as walk in. It needs a minimum of 10 person and rate is 150pesos per head. Since we are only 4 person we still paid 1500. Maritess mad full effort in explaining every details of the activity. Since my japanese guest only speaks tagalog. Yes they speak only tagalog as a second language. My suggestion is to have a tagalog version for better understanding. Thank you again. It was worth the time.

There are tons of areas of intramuros to explore. We spent whole day walking around the wall of this fort and seeing all the different structures along with the Rizal museum. Lots of history here. Youtube agiftedcurse
