This is housed within the premises of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Complex.
It displays the history of the nation's currency via diverse artifacts, including rare coins. Un fortunately it was closed for renovation when I visited last time but have seen it before and it is free and very impressive

Money museum is ok...you will be able to see different displays of money from different genre. You will have an idea, what kind of money our ancestors used. They will also show you a video on how a money is the production of money. They will also hand you a comics about saving money wherein kids will be able to appreciate it.

Not only is this museum a fascinating place to visit but definitely a learning classroom to any visitor, young and old alike. The history of money, the processes involved in minting, how to recognize fake from authentic and so much more. Any visitor could learn the vast history of the nation's currency all in one roof.

An out of the way museum of the history of currency of the Philippines. You get to see how the coins and paper bills have come along and what security measures have been implemented. Surprisingly, there is a history lesson that goes along with it as they explain why certain coins were made and why the govt changed them along the way.

Entrance is free but finding the entrance and getting in is a bit more difficult! Bring ID like a driver's licence or passport. The museum is in the central bank complex and can be accessed through gate 3.

We spent about an hour viewing the exhibits and learning about the history of the Philippines and the various currencies. Very interesting- we are glad we went!

Have been wanting to visit this museum for some time, and was pleased that I managed to today.

There was some confusion as to where exactly the museum was as it appears to be on Roxas itself at the end of the Cultural Museum. That is not the he case - entre through Gate 6 next to the museum. Surrender your passport or national ID card in exchange for a museum visitors pass. From the security check you are given guidance to find the museum in the Bank complex.

The present museum was opened in 1999 by Gabriel Singsong - Governor of the Banko Sentral.

The museum traces the history of currency from pre colonial era - ie. Cowrie shells, cask etc, up to the current issue of banknotes. The museum has artefacts about culture, commemorative medals, coins and notes. Spanish era galleon trade is looked at - that brought silver to the Philippines from Mexico and how the rich took control of the import of silver. The America era is looked at and then the gloomy days of the Japanese occupation. Yes - the Filipino has suffered the domination and interference of inflicted masters for so long. But then came independence! A commemorative medal was struck for the first twenty years or so - depicting different Filipino themes. The vision of Rizal realised, who's image is more fitting for the coins and notes on independence?

Various other academic medals from the Spanish era appointments to Professorships at University Santo Tomas. Tuberculosis has always been endemic and a problem in the Philippines - there is a copy of the attendees medal for the National Convention on Tuberculosis in 1926 - a walk through time.

Current banknotes are on display. Makes me feel old - I remember the last three series of notes.

No gallantry medals or orders are on display at this museum.

Good air conditioning, good lighting and great layout.

Excellent museum and great value as no entrance charge. Allow 1 to 2 hours for a full view. As the cultural museum is next door it's great as a combination!

i was raring to visit this place ever since i was a child but it was never included in our itinerary during shool excursions and educational trips. with all the rich display of currencies here and abroad, anyone even those not interested, will appreciate the wealth of information this museum offers. it even showcases several paintings of national artist amorsolo whose artworks are highly coveted by the affluent crowd. good thing BSP had the wisdom to include it in their display so everyone can still see how the work of a Master painter looks like.

i would have stayed longer to see and read more but i was under time constraints. i will definitely go back to explore more next time.

Small yet packed place on everything about the paper bills and coins of the Philippines. It houses the biggest sheet of paper bill ever printed in terms of the size of paper and many other notes although the quality of the collection and the method of storage still has a lot to improve. There are some international currencies in display as well.

This review is quite late. The Money Museum is located within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas grounds. It is a rich repository of Philippine currencies and coins from different periods of history.
