It's a beautiful building on the outside but quite plain inside. It was interesting to discover about Christianity in Japan in the adjoining museum.

I did not go inside but the history of this church and the history of Christianity in Japan is an interesting one.

The oldest Christian church in the area. It beautifully sits at the base of the hill and is very well maintained. It's architectural beauty and history are well worth the visit.

Built in 1864, this church is believed to be the oldest standing Christian church in Japan. It is dedicated to the memory of 26 Christians who were executed in Nagasaki in 1597. There is an entrance fee, not just a requested donation. We did not...More

As a practising Catholic, when ever visiting an area, I always make a point of searching for the local church. Never, at anytime or anywhere, have I been charged to enter. Till I happened upon here. Don't waste your money. Even though it no longer...More

No pictures worth putting up, the church is currently undergoing renovations, so you really don’t get a good look at the church. Although on your way to Glover Gardens, you’ll be passing the church.

As others have mentioned the entrance fee for this site is quite steep, as is the walk uphill to get there. If you have a particular interest in Catholicism in Japan then I guess this church may be of interest. Otherwise a quick look and...More

Small wooden Catholic Church that even if was free to entry would be a waist of time. My suggestion is to keep on walking and use the time and money you save to have a tea in the Tea House within Glover Garden

The area around Oura Church is very crowded, but so much to see and do, do not miss. Nearby is a small quaint children's bookstore. Very good quality books for children in English, not just Japanese. Take the time to go into the little shops...More

This is the first catholic church ever built in Nagasaki, Japan. Although it is small, but it holds a lot of meaning to the revolution of the Japanese government about taking in foreign religion into their culture.
