We went here around 10 or 11am but there were still no crowds to speak of and we had entire parts of the temple to ourselves.

There is an admission cost for this temple but it is worth it! It is a beautifully designed complex that is well preserved with the funds they receive. There are a lot of temples in Kyoto but this was one of my favorites. The view...More

Just beyond the southern end of the Path of Philosophy, this temple has a peaceful, extensive garden. It's usually quiet and uncrowded. The gardens and solitude are worth the trip.

The gardens surrounding this temple are lovely at any time of the year, but it's a particularly popular destination for fall colors in autumn. It's easy to see why this is from the numbers of maple trees lining every path and walk. Hike up the...More

The temple along with the beautiful garden is very soothing! Definitely worth visiting this place while you are visiting Kyoto. Would love to return here in falls.

We visited this temple after completing the Philosopher's Walk and found it to be relatively quiet in comparison with some other temples. Beautiful gardens,
