The Kimono Forest is located in Randen Tram Station (on the Keifuku Arashiyama line). If you are on a group tour, this attraction is through the shops opposite the entrance to Tenryu-ji temple. It’s a beautiful art installation of kimono pillars, that ends with a...More

Very unique and stylish place! We especially liked the dragon fountain surrounded by pillars with pieces of kimono textiles inside! A stroll among these “bamboo”-pillars feels wonderful during sunset when light and colors are particularly warm and vibrant! The fact that the kimono forest makes...More

Arashiyama Kimono Forest was located inside the local train station at Arashiyama. Two columns of colorful lights were backdrops for photo-takers. In fact these colorful tubes were kimono patterns lined up as wallpaper display for viewing by public.

This is a pretty area next to the train station which is a good place to get some photos. It was like a small scale version of Sydney's Vivid festival. There were colourful pillars that were supposed to represent bamboo and had various kimono patterns...More

Kimono forest? It looked more like a collection of tubes lined with wallpaper. You will see it if you arrive into the station where it is, but I wouldn't bother walking the 30 metres or so from the main street to see it

It is located at the train station. And it is pretty small just 2 rows of colourful columns. Hence, can just make a quick photo stop if around this area.

When people are planning stuff to do in Kyoto, I doubt the Kimono Forest in Arashiyama springs to mind. But the happy thing about it is that it is conveniently close (walkable) to some places that people do think of going to - one of...More

The area was smaller than I thought. I heard it was supposed to lit up come sundown but I didn't stay long enough. The best part of this place has got to be the Dragon Pond.

We were in the area and decided to pass by the place. It is small, very colorful and a nice stop. Saw some people actually walking around in their kimonos and saying a prayer in one of the stations. Quite serene.

A good place for biding time while resting inside this unique japanese creation. For some, this place doesn't excite them, but refreshing for art lovers. Great for photo ops.
