This is a nice place to walk and enjoy the architecture of all the buildings in this area. Certainly when it’s hot a nice place to relax or to drink a coffee on a terras.

Shamian Island is a dream like refuge with old housing and big, rooted tress. It's calm atmosphere let's you dream and have a good chat with you friend. There is a Starbucks coffee in one of the colonial houses if you need some western treat.

A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Guangzhou. There are 14 million people in this city so can sometimes be overwhelming.

It’s a nice 30 Min to 1 hour walk. TLDR: it’s too short to do by itself (imo) but when coupled with a bunch of other destinations, it makes for a great day out. So here’s my take. Traveling here just to see Shamian isn’t...More

Great walking experience. Garden area, stores for shopping, families enjoying a day off and a popular wedding picture venue at old church. Very relaxing and easy to get to area.

Many shops near the White Swan Hotel on Shamian Island. Don't purchase at the shops inside the hotel, as the prices are outrageous.
