The academy is a bit of a ways outside of Guangzhou's City Center (probably about an hour with bad traffic) along the Pearl River, but well worth the trip. There is a lot of history there, ranging from Sun Yat Sen's early governments in the...More

The academy site is being renovated, so there are changes happening. I live nearby and have bee twice, the first time many parts were closed off, but six months later it has improved a lot. Areas are being reopened to the public that had been...More

Original site was destroyed during WWII, reconstructed recently. About 25 minutes drive from Pazhou. Very good view and fresh air. Highly recommended

I was there in December 2017. It is basically a military academy that showed how the students lived and learned under Sun Yat-Sen's rule. There is an interesting exhibition which showed photos and paintings of historical past.

Has a museum aspect to it but really requires a guide or Chinese speaker/translator to get a lot out of it. Confusing layout. Has several vendors of cheap souvenirs on site. Very small military museum attached.
