Lake Baikal is absolutely beautiful and there is no better way to see it than walking a section of the Great Baikal Trail. We took the one hydrofoil running a day from Irkutsk to Bolshie Koty. Unfortunately it doesn't go until 12.30, arriving at 2pm....More

My family hiked the section from Listvyanka to Koty in July and had a wonderful time. This fifteen mile section can easily be done in a day. We hiked from Listvyanka so we had the big climb early in the hike and the more gradual...More

This is a very nice walk that deserves more attention from foreign tourists. We are probably on the low edge of the fitness level of those contemplating the approx 22 km walk from Listvyanka to Bolshie Koty, in our fifties, take somewhat irregular exercise. It...More

Nice trail and views. As soon you reach the lake you must take a swim. We did the walk during good weather, we think that you have to be careful wen rains. Plan go go back on time. Partly though.

You can walk along the lake Baikal as long as you want. I used to hike for several days, but in June 2016 I just walked for one hour, then it started raining, and I turned back.

If you are planning for a shorter walk, I'd opt for the Cherskogo stone instead, as you have to walk quite a while (probably a couple of hours) before reaching any kind of view points. Nice hike, but not if you're expecting breathtaking views etc...More
