Wow is the word. There are two particular things which stands out. One being the mosaics in all the stations, with different designs and theme and the other one is how deep the stations are!

The depth and quality of these build is a sight to behold. The metros are beautiful with art galore, massive tunnels, the biggest escalators I’ve ever seen. As Willy Wonka once said: “all aboard”

If you want to see how a well run subway works, this is a great example; have not been in Moscow, which I understand has even a better one but this close to perfect. Easy to figure out and less than 40 cents to ride.

one hears of the underground in Moscow, but not so much in st Petersburg. I was astounded to know that the deepest station is over 100mts underground. and so pretty.

Get a Metro Tour, it is one of the cheapest and the guide would tell you all about the history of the art/stations, that is priceless!
