This memorial plaque is located near to the corner, at the right section of the Metropol Hotel. It faces Theater Avenue, and marks the area where there was a battle for the Kremlin during the Russian civil war in November 1917. Similar plaques and memorials are located throughout the city, and are a part of the history of Moscow. The plaque depicts revolutionaries rushing towards the Kremlin with weapons in hand. One of the revolutionaries is holding a banner. The plaque refers to the year of the battle, 1917. The battle took place over two days, November 2-3, 1917 and involved the revolutionaries on one side and the cadets defending the approach to the Kremlin on the other. The revolutionaries were led by M Frunze, who has a bust near to Suvorov Square. The Metropol Hotel, where the plaque is posted, was witness to the battle, as it was built in 1905. This may not be seen as a tourist attraction, but we found it very interesting, and enjoyed seeing these plaques as we walked through the city. This area is easily reached by walking through Revolution Square or from Theater Square.
