It’s a stop that is included in one of the things you have to do when in Iloilo. Probably best to come here at a cooler time of the day.
It was clean. And I hope the city is able to maintain it. Lots of paintings on wall all around the city.

One of the almost cleanest river I ever saw. Both sides of the river in the city have boardwalk suited for walking, jogging or running. One of Iloilo’s best tourist spots for people who enjoy physical sports activities.

I have witness how this area have been developed from a simple place "punungan" to a developed Eco - friendly activity center. How the local government put it's heart in cleaning up the once murky - muddy Iloilo River to one of the cleanest is just amazing.. . Good for zumba session, running, jogging, walking, strolling or even witnessing the sunset. The development of the area is comparable to that of Singapore's Clarke Quay.

The Iloilo River Esplanade is like a breath of fresh air after some decades of stagnant hibernation of Iloilo City. Then upon its arrival, it was heralded like a queen by its citizens who longs for splendour and beauty. Yes, th Iloilo River Esplanade is like that. Now, the esplanade is a venue for outdoor activities, by young and old alike. Flowers planted within the vicinity add colors to the area, zumba fanatics make the place bursting with energy and sweet couples strolling lend a loving ambience to the place, what else. Now I say, come to esplanade for a renewal of bond with Iloilo River.

What i love most with the place is it's accessibility and convenience. It's near to SM and just next to Smallville. If you want to relax and have a cool walk, it is best to do it early morning or late afternoon. Cause the walk way doesn't have enough trees to shade you when you walk or jog when the sun is up. River itself is well maintained as well and it's clean. You are not allowed to use bikes and motorized vehicles in the park. So refrain from bringing one. This is also a child friendly place but make sure you watch your kids when they play around the park, aside from the fact that there are a lot of people walking and running around. There are also open stairs going to the river banks.

I know there will be be overseas visitors who might think "so what" but really this place is a breath of fresh air and a nice place to get a drink and people watch. It is easy to reach from any part of the city and I highly recommend coming around sunset. There are new cafes and restaurants springing up all the time and they are busy working on the companion walkway across the river. This place really sets Iloilo apart from other cities of similar size in the Philippines. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Iloilo.

I have seen Esplanade from a distance, being a frequent visitor of Iloilo. After a big dinner in Small Ville, we decided to go for a walk there. And it a very pleasant surprise. The esplanade was designed for pedestrians and pedestrians alone. I heard that pets are not allowed. Good thing. We did not have to contend with dog poop, etc.
And I was glad that they beautified the place but not at the expense of the environment.... the mangroves are still there.
And I've seen that an equivalent development is being undertaken in the other side of the river.
Kudos to Iloilo.

Is this dog friendly? I just transferred my dogs here in Iloilo, and only to find out that the city isn't a dog friendly city. I hope I can walk my dogs here because it is a very beautiful place to stroll.

I'm not positive if it is dog friendly. The Esplande is an open walk way around the river. There are no gates or entrances so I believe you can walk your dog there.
