Untouched and beautiful! Unspoiled!

Boat trips from Naval might change from time to time, so be sure to check day before you go to Marapipi. From Marapipi, we rented a boat for P300/4 persons, twas a nice ride. We paid P100 for the entrance fee at Sambawan Island.

Overall, the beauty is very overwhelming.

very long road trip, very long boat rides.... but very worth it!! The entire island offers a 360 degree view of a very panoramic view of the sea, islands and sky! Make sure you have lotsa batteries in your phones and cameras!

Ready your wide lens or cellphones! This place is a must if you are an IG addict or a photography enthusiast. I just find it difficult to get there from Cebu because of ferry, bus, van and boat rides to get there. However to lessen the agony, you could try to ride a plane going to samar /leyte or anywhere that is near there and travel by land and boat after. The current is quite strong and might not be ideal for freediving and the coral reefs isn't that impressive. I haven't tried freediving on the otherside because i find it really dangerous because of the rocky stuff there. The island also offers scuba diving im just not sure if its worth it. The island doesnt have a freshwater, the restroom needs proper cleaning maintenance because it smells like pee. Bring loads of potable water because you will need it to counteract the steaming heat of the sun. You can stay in cottages or bring your own tent. Sunset is very nice. The orangey pink big round unflamed sun is definitely at its best. There's a convenience store but the price is expected to be very high because their products were from the mainland. Definitely a place to visit if you are already in Leyte. This place though is similar to gigantes island.

Was here early December 2018 but I felt like I’m in the month of summer! . It took us three hours from Tacloban to reach naval port and from there my guide took me all the way to sambawan island via motorboat banca for another two hours. Yes worth it, perfect to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The steps going up the hill is easy with a perfect view at the top. This island so quiet, very clean beach and offers some activities anyone can enjoy..

This is one of the places I’ve been dreaming of to see before 2018 ends. Determined to see this place, I searched for blogs how to get there. It’s not easy to find this place. It’s a bit disconnected from the mainland of Biliran Province so it’s important to bring with you food and water if you plan to stay overnight. I suggest to put on a tent instead of the cottages to better experience island life. The view is totally incredible. Postcard perfect.

Sambawan island is considerably virgin Hidden Gems of philippines when it come to tourism. If your planing for natural place out of your busy schedule then this is perfect place to camping under stars with rhythm of waves. Sambawan island offers the cleanest and clearest turquoise water beach with hundreds of spices of fishes you can see easily and interact with while snorkeling near shore but to get breathtaking view of this island you have to do little trek to get top of the mountain, the top view is enough To make you fall is love with nature and they shape of island is like god gave beautiful crown to this beach.
There is no as such hotels but they have facilities to stay or you can rent a tent.

I went here via Brgy. Ol-og, Maripipi. Rent a boat for 800 pesos. I suggest that you do an overnight on this island and bring a tent (or rent from the stores there 300 pesos). Also, it is best that you visit the island on a weekday- Monday-Thursday because it gets crowded on a weekend and during Summer Season. I was the only one in the island apart from the Caretakers and store keepers and it was great! Don't forget to snorkel, the corals and fishes are amazing!

Hiked the hilltop and the view is breathtaking specially during Sunrise/Sunset. There is a hut on top of the hill and you can stay there.

This is for the Local Govt of Biliran and DOT- I went to the northern most part of the island and I saw Plastics and Thrash (a lot) left by visitors. Maybe we can ask tourists to bring their own trash when leaving or train the caretakers and storekeepers to manage waste. the place is great but seeing trash dumped here, it is NOT OK. There is an environmental fee, pls use this to manage the island properly!

This is one of the Spot of AirAsia hehe, i recommend to go there in Summer and starting from mornings, there is a boat which is 2k and they wait 1-2 hours only. you can do overnight but its a bit more expensive but still worth it i guess.

Must go place .. The thing I like most about Sambawan is simplicity they maintain on island , it teach us to live happily with basic things without expecting luxury, that night I felt like I’m sleeping with stars with music of waves; I felt like whatever i dreamt of is united in this beautiful island. This trip was one which I never wanted to go.
If ur planning to visit Sambawan then best way to get their from kawayyan village with villagers boat it will take 1 -1.5 hr and they will cost you nearly 3000 bath but if ur only two peoples then you can share your boat with others also.
Sambawan island is good for snorkeling and best for relaxing at crystal clar blue water .. thr is they have some cottages also and u want u can hire tent also.
The best view of island u will see by littlebit cliff

We took an hour boat ride from Sunset Resort in Cawayan to reach Sambawan. The water was clear with different hues of blue. The sand is made up of corals. You can buy chips and drinks from the sari-sari store in the island. I had to say that climbing the hill with a scenic view of Maripipi was the highlight. We also brought a kayak with us. The only reason why I gave 4 stars only is because I saw some rubbish by the port. I hope they maintain the area. After all, it's a fish sanctuary.
