MacArthur Landing or Leyte Landing Memorial ...however you may call it . It is the spot where Gen. Douglas MacArthur fullfilled his promise to the Philippines ," I shall return". Others refer to it as Red Beach. But don't get it wrong....there's no bloody incident involved. It is just a call sign for the ships to identify their landing area at that time. This event commenced the largest naval battle if World War II which eventually led to the defeat and surrender of the Japanese forces after 3 yeras. The place is quiet with surrounding greens and the the Leyte gulf. A must see iconic memorial of WWII.

Though it was kinda damaged due to the tsunami. It was still a good place to go with the memorials and other letters from leaders of other countries all in there. Makes you nostalgic and proud to be a filipino. Big park also to have a picnic with the family or just relax and enjoy the waves.

For WW2 history buffs. Nice place to unwind and watch the sunset and the sea. Nemiranda mural is a great piece.

Great place for a stroll and even a picnic. What's new is they put up a light fountain show thing at night and more attractions here. This is truly a great leap forward. Good job Palo!

A must visit historical place. The MacArthur landing happened during World War 2.
The best time to go there is when the sun's not too hot anymore in the afternoon. There are food stalls in the afternoon just across the landmark.

I just went here to have a photo op because my flight was early and I asked the driver to drop me off here before going to the hotel. A pace to relax and exercise with the backdrop of the sea.

Not sure what I was expecting at the park. Having seen pictures of the place, perhaps I was expecting more.
However, I thought the whole place was pretty average. The park area is in desperate need of attention and maintenance.
The statues themselves are just that, statues. Larger than life, perhaps like MacArthur liked to think of himself, they are imposing but that's all.
They should be visited only because they are in Tacloban and not hard to reach.

It was nice to see the historical site of Gen Douglas Mac Arthur's landing place in the province of Leyte as he returned to the Philippines to fulfill his promise to the Filipino people that "I Shall Return" during the World War 2 in the islands of Bataan and Corregidor. The landing site in the Visayan Island is several hundred miles away from Luzon where the battle of Bataan took place.
