If you're a nature/park enthusiast then you have to visit Sampaloc lake. One of the famous 7 lakes of San Pablo City. 4 Km walk around the lake, you can also rent a bike or simply drive around. You can set up picnic with you family and have your kids enjoy it's park and play ground. Perfect place to watch the sunset and spend time to relax...

It was a busy Sunday. A lot of local families were around. There are a few cafes and restaurants by the lake and most of them were full. There is no designated parking area for visitors. You’d need to find a parking spot by the road.

me and my 2 small niece and nephew rode on a bus ( fare for adult is only P80. and P40./child) to san pablo city, laguna via the lucena, quezon route. we alighted in what they call there,"medical"(medical hospital of san pablo city). took a motorcycle(P30.) and asked the the driver to take us to the jeepney terminal bound for liliw/nagcarlan. we alighted in brgy. sto.angel, where the signage"pandin lake" on the left side of the road is seen.
the three of us walked on a long, winding and steep pass where they enjoyed much the presence of some horses grazing along tall grasses on both side of the pass. when we reached the high point ,we were in awe seeing the ovalish,teal-green color of the lake below and blue sky above. the lake is surrounded by hills of trees and few lovely bamboo houses. in the lake,we could see several bamboo rafts and they are for rent (P180/person).there are several stores where they sell refreshments.
the lake is clean and for swimming. we found a tree nearest to the lake and there we camped for a while. my nephew and niece had quite a blast, content themselves playing and bathing while some local women washing clothes nearby.
the place is so serene and not yet exploited. one may want to stay overnight only if they have tents and most likely the locals would gladly share their toilets since there is no resort established in there yet.

I've first visited this lake decades ago but the myth still stands out up to this time...My very first impression was that the lake seems so "strong" and "mysterious" after talking to the locals ...It is strong because of the unusual waves that reflects the current underneath...You will really think many many times before swimming into its water...Well, it is a mysterious lake according to the local stories that people were disappearing in the lake without trace while while swimming underneath...Their "conclusion" but yet to be discovered is that a "tunnel" at the bottom of the lake flows to the ocean and might have "sucked" those "missing" people...Nobody really knows but it adds up to some kind of excitement to visit this beautiful lake at the base of another mysterious mountain which is the Mt Banahaw...

A bit disappointed. The place could have been improved. With the fish pens around the lake, it's eye sore to visiting tourists. The stalls around the area, which sells grilled entrails of chicken and pork are not so hygienic. The place minus the eyesores is good for jogging and walking early in the morning and late afternoon. The toilets (with a fee) stinks. We passed the toilet while descending from the park going to the Lakeside. Hope the concern agency will look after this place because it has a very refreshing and natural scenery.

We had a really great time here with my friends. This place makes you feel close to nature. Stalls and vendors all around where you can buy food and souvenirs. You can rent a bicycle for just 20 pesos to tour around the lake, just make sure to bring water and extra shirt with you because it's about a 3-4 kilometer biking around it. We'll definitely come back here and bring other friends.

Jogging and renting a bike is okay. Foods here are pricey but you can pack your own lunch 'cause they have rock chairs and tables there. Expect beggars to approach you while you are eating.

Having lunch at Cafe Lago where one could view the Sampaloc Lake was a nice treat. It was also lovely to see families having picnics and kids riding their bikes. My only complaint is that since it's election season, politicians' campaign materials are literally ALL OVER THE PLACE! It wasn't pleasant to the senses.

We visited Sampaloc Lake during our brief weekend stay at San Pablo City. Our destination was actually Cafe Lago. Our hosts invited us there to unwind after a heavy meal. The said cafe is a simple, nature-centered and well-positioned gathering place for the family and the like, with a perfect view and of the lake.
We had halo-halo and mais con yelo. The kids enjoyed the hammock. The adults just whiled away with the refreshments while enjoying the view. We met the owners, the indefatigable Dra and her funny hubby, with the former narrating their love story. We also met their cuddly dogs, the playful and big Tabby (Siberian Husky and Labrador hybrid) and the aptly named Charcoal.
We visited in the late afternoon and walked around the nearby path. Our host told us that people went there to jog. There is a path for joggers and vehicles alike. There are several commercial establishments. And when we were there we saw some food stalls which sold barbeque, isaw and the like. We would've sampled those, but we came there with full stomachs. So, we unfortunately had to skip it - though it looked and smelled yummy.
The view and the ambience were great! You don't get to enjoy stuff like these in the metro. A placid lake. A great view. The wind and fresh air brushing against your face, forearms and legs, as you hold hands with your partner, taking in the view. And when you steal a glance at her, and you see her flash that smile saying she's enjoying everything as much as you are, then you know you brought her to the right place!
If you're into a pure nature trip, you might be disappointed with some commercialization and development encroaching the area. But if you just want to enjoy the company you have, over drinks, with a view of one of San Pablo's Seven Lakes, then you are in for a treat!

Can we set up a small tent here so we can rest for a while and have picnic after jogging or after doing activities and stuff?

I think the best time for riding a bike in Sampaloc Lake is around 6-8 in the morning
