I must say it is not the best beach i have been but it is changing. the people are now becoming more environmentalists. The place is great.. just need more education for the locals to take care of it. Nevertheless, there are very beautiful nature in the hills and mountains overlooking the beach.

Not Bad
Sep 2018 • Solo
The waves are not as good as San Juan Beach. Less touristy than SJ. Lots of hawkers walk along the beach selling paintings, fresh catch, etc. I find it annoying. Lots of old bars and resorts line the beach. If I had a choice of beaches to go to, I wouldn't go to Bauang beach.

Nice Beach, relatively clean
Apr 2018 • Friends
One thing about the beaches along La Union is that the waves are a big strong, so wading and swimming are not advised. If you are in the San Juan Area, the beach there is more suited to surfing so the waves are much stronger. In Bauang Beach, the waves are a bit calmer so you could do some swimming along the shore. The sand is relatively smooth and fine, so bringing aqua shoes is not relevant. What I love about this beach area is that the crowd is not as big as the one in San Juan. In fact, during the evenings, the beach is quiet and all you hear are the waves smashing against the shore...very relaxing.

Better Beaches Nearby
Apr 2018 • Couples
Bauang Beach is long so one must see it all to get a good impression. The area near the Bauang/San Fernando border has too many resorts that have sea walls built into the water so there basically is no "beach" so I rated this beach poor. The area where you can see sand is closer to Bauang town. Several rivers empty into Bauang beach so the water is murky. Beautiful Sunsets. Many resorts along the beach however 2 nearby beaches Acapulco Beach and The Poro Point Bay walk Beach near the warehouse are much better beaches.

Tranquil beach
Feb 2018 • Family
This a good swimming beach since the tides are usually low and the waves are very little. Bauang beach stretches far and most of it are frontages of the throngs of resorts in the area.

Good time
Aug 2017 • Friends
I have seen better beaches with fine white sand,, but this place is different. It's special,, there is peace, like everything is calm,, especially when the sun sets. Walking along the shore where the water touches your feet,, the breeze, the water isn't that clear but still had a good time.

I always enjoy my morning swims
Jul 2017 • Family
We like to stay at the Coconut Grove resort. Every morning, I do long swims, 1.0-1.5 kms. Yeah, the beach is not the best, but I love the water. The best thing: NO JET SKIS!!!

Tranquil with a scarce vendors
Dec 2016 • Couples
The little lady and I always make it a point to get to the beach in Bauang at least twice a year. On the way to Vigan we stopped and stayed at the Go Inn right along MacArthur Highway for two nights.

From the Go Inn, you can walk to the beach approximately 125 meters away. During sunny days you won't see many people out and about, which is fine by me.

A stroll towards San Fernando will bring you in contact with three bar/restaurants frequented by many expats and Filipinos alike.

One of out favorites is the Blue Cat which has direct access to the beach. The beer is cold and reasonable and the food is very good and decently priced.

When the tide rolls in, however, it is impossible to walk on the beach. That typically occurs in the late afternoon.

As for vendors, they are far and few between. Most only sell fish such as fresh yellow fin tuna at bargain prices. Unlike other beaches, there are no hawkers of paintings, jewelry, and other common trinkets.

If you're looking for a resort to stay in, about 500 meters down the road from these bars are China Sea and Coconut Grove, both of which I have stayed at with the wife on a few occasions.

Bauang has a nice, clean beach for the most part. If you look around you can find a kayak to rent on the cheap. Of course, boats are available if you want to shoot over to 100 Islands or if you want to fish or just get a view of the local area. The price is about 500 pesos for 3 hours.

Give it a shot. It's an inexpensive delight that will make you come back and the people are always friendly.
