I had an opportunity to revisit the Salcedo Saturday Market after several years. It seems to be pretty much the same as always: mostly overpriced food catering to Makati expats and hi-so locals. It's more for entertainment than for real shopping; I didn't see any bargains.

Salcedo Saturday Market is a great place to wonder thru on a Saturday morning. This market isn't huge but it's colorful and the food is good. There are local merchandise vendors beside food vendors. I bought some pearl ear rings for a very good price from a local artist selling her wares. The food is always good so I'm happily full when departing this place. The market is covered under huge tents so if it's raining it's still good to go.

When I came to Philippines what the most exciting thing things in my mind was their local foods... This place is the area where you could find them, there were many foods, fruits, fresh foods and even spices as well...
Worth it to visit when you are in town in the weekend too..

If you are ever in Makati, plan to visit Salcedo Saturday Market. It's an outdoor market in this gated area where different vendors sell their fares. You have your choice of different foods you can eat there, fresh fruits and produce you can buy, and specialty goods like sweets, sauces, etc. Bring cash with you as credit card is generally not accepted.

I have been going to Salcedo Market since it started, I think maybe 14 years. You'll find what you are looking for. From plants and flowers to cooked food. My staple is the fruit stand on the left side when you enter the market. I get the weekly fix of bananas, pineapple and they even have pomelo. Next is the sausage place near the end just in front of the fresh fruit shake place. Then I turn left just following the way back to the entrance where I the brown eggs and the vegetable stalls are. Then I'm done. If you just want to sample a little bit of everything, they have tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy your food.

This market has deteriorated to be a hive for opportunists and plain rip off marketers. There's this French guy selling his cooked food for 350. pesos per meager portion - where did he think he was? - in an air conditioned full service restaurant in Greembelt? The fruits and so-called organic veggies and eggs are sold for twice the market price. The only bargain if at all is the Chinese lumpia for 60. pesos - but even that has low-ended : they use pechay instead of the usual lettuce or wansoy . Yikes.

Flea market style on a Saturday Morning in Makati City! One of the best "go to" for food and shop for produce, plants and chinaware. People mostly come here for the food variety, best to visit the place hungry as there is a choice of dishes and cuisines to try. Come early as parking can be risky late in the morning and the tables few.

Went there with high expectations but if you want to see a real Filipino type market please do not go here. It was good to see attempts to showcase foods from the world but the prices are way too expensive for a normal Filipino to shop at so this is geared to yuppie Makati urbanites and rich ex pats who want the world's food showcase in their "downtown" Makati core. We'll be visiting Baclaran market on our next trip to see an authentic Manila market. Salcedo is basically a joke of a Filipino market.

One of the nice place to visit for both locals and foreigners it this weekend market. Cool grassy surroundings and tall shady trees in the heart of Makati. I have been visiting this place once a month since it opened a few years back.

The market is great for locals, and business travelers with time to kill.
I wouldn't make a special trip if you are a tourist; Makati can be a bit dead on a Saturday (unless you plan to go to the malls afterwards).
If you'd like to get some fresh food, or try a lil of everything, this is a great alternative to the fast food focus of the Philippines.
